We are taking our grandson to Futurescope in August and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for somewhere to break the journey between Calais and Poitiers (preferably the other side of Paris).

I would prefer to drive straight through but I know I'll be getting regular choruses of "Are we nearly there ?"

Two suggestions you might consider:
Rambouillet - nice woodland site, easy access, just off the main N1 road (bit of circuit back under), good facilities including MV dump and restaurant (not sure of opening hours in winter).
Chenonceaux - The Old Mill - British owned - excellently kept site - easy access -good facilities, restaurant/bar on site.
Both in the CC book.
Also there is a large service station Aire at Janvier.

I'll back the Camping Municipal d'Etang d'Or at Rambouillet. Pleasant friendly site with clean facilities. Plenty of space for children let off steam and interesting walks. Loo blocks heated. Very peaceful.

Many thanks for the suggestions. Rambouillet looks as it will fit the bill perfectly being about midway, and the other side of Paris.

Hi Andrew

Why don't you enter a site into the MHF database to give you access to the map that Nuke has just added.

It's a brilliant tool and there are loads of sites to choose from in the area you want.
