And here are our real figures....

January - 1287 Euros plus £140 sterling.

February - 924 Euros plus £140 sterling.

January's figure included the cost of getting down here, and also various "one off" items such as the internet SIm (200 euro) and various top up cards for the Italian Sims.

February - the figure includes 240 euros for repair to the Corsa - Oscar chewed a seat belt.

The sterling payment covers an amount I "leave on one side" to cover van/car/personal/pet insurance, 2 x tax discs and an anticipated sum towards van and car servicings.

We are under budget - the biggest saving on accommodation. I budgeted £300 - about 450 Euros, but am paying about half that. I pay 150 euro per month for the pitch, plus electricity on the meter, charged at 16 cents per kilowatt.

Food is under budget, but clothes shopping is over.

Eating out is cheap - at luchtime a four course meal in many reastautants costs as little as 9 euros. These are known as "pranzo di lavori" (working lunches) and are aimed at workers. They are good value and the same meal in the same restaurant costs about 25 euro in the evening.

Income is not brill however - but I did not expect it to be at this stage.

The sterling amount will increase soon as I will start to pay national insurance by direct debit.
