Greetings,

Just reading about full timing and wonder about he costs of this, how do you find suitable camp/parking sites all year round, what do the sites/parking cost, what about shopping, amenities etc?

What sort of budget do you need to live?

What about post etc? and doctors,

Hmmmmmmmm, too much to think about, think I will give up the idea. buy another boat an live on a canal.

Pete

Hopefully your experience using your mh for holidays and weekends away has already tooled you up with most of the information you request. How much it costs and what you do in emergencies etc is just the same as when you go away for a weekend, week or couple of weeks.

Hi Peter

Fulltiming is not that different to living in a house if you think about it.

You will still spend a similar amount on food.

You will no longer pay a mortgage/rates/electricity/water rates etc

You will pay about £6-8 a night on average for a site incl. elec

There are plenty of sites available.

You will need to register somewhere, maybe a relatives to satisfy the doctors etc.

Post could either go to a relative or you could get a PO box.

We have found it fantastic but everyone is different.

Is it right for you?

Any more points please ask

I would think the two things are quite similar, Peter Wink

We looked at a house recently (only on the internet, not in the 'flesh', so to speak) which came with 160ft of mooring near to Fradley Junction. If we buy it (actually, fairly unlikely), you can moor at the bottom of our garden. We'll only charge you ... hmmmm, let me see ... £3 a night Laughing

Seriously, where would you want to full time? UK? Spain? Half and half?

Sounds like we might need another full timers meet in the summer.

Sounds like a tip top idea. We've got quite a few full timers on board now. ScotJim is around, Stew and Dave are full time, drag Russell and Ken back from foreign climes, get Phil and Jan before they start their CC jobs at Abbey Wood, are Russwoo still around, and many others ...

Not to put a damper on your thoughts but there is one thing to consider and that is where do you live if long repairs (heaven forbid) are necessary. I didn't factor this into my equation when going f/timing when I broke a half shaft. I am lucky as I can stay at my postal address for short periods (2/4 weeks) or so. You must have a postal address for c/card statements etc. and also as has been mentioned for registering with a doctor.

The great news is I only receive about 6 letters a month. Also check with farmers around the area you wish to stay the longest. I pay £40 per calendar month which includes water and tank emptying and can have mains elec. hook up at £10pw. All I did was to ask around.

Best wishes on your decision. If you decide it is for you, I promise you'll never look back.

Ian
