We aim to improve the Specification Database over the coming Months, what we need is your help and feedback.
1. What additional fields do you want to be added
2. What is a way of improving it in your opinion?
3. Should we have more mandatory fields so we get a more complete database
Could we please refrain from going off topic so it easier to collate the information.
Thank you in advance for your contribution

Steve

I will start it off with some I have recently received

Olley

Chassis: add Workhorse
Engine type: Add Petrol to the LPG option
Engine size:Add 8.1
Length: increment up to 12m
Unladen weight: increment up to at least 15tonne
GVW: increment up to at lease 20tonne

Donnie Ban
I tried filling in your RV /5th wheel data base, but it would not let me as my 5th wheel does not have an engine or seatbelts

I couldn't find a way of editing my input after it was posted.

Further options in your current menus, applicable to RV's perhaps, based upon our campervan:

Manufacturer: Monaco

Chassis: Roadmaster

Fridge capacity: 400 litres

Engine size: 8.8 litres

How about splitting tank capacities into, again with our figures as examples:

Fresh Water: 378 litres

Grey Water: 234 litres

Black water: 151 litres

How about the following ideas for categories. You may decide it is too much to deal with of course.

Fuel tank capacity: 378 litres

Fixed LPG tank capacity: 118 litres

Interior height: 2.13 m

Wheelbase length: 6.19 m

No. of slide-outs: current maximum number is I believe 5

Total no of seats: to include belted seats above (or in addition to belted seats above)

How about splitting the no of beds into fixed and not fixed?

All the above just ideas for you to think about, no wish to interfere as a minority party with an interest in RV's!

Hi Duadua
Too much is better than too little, it is better to try and solve all of the at one attempt wether they be issues/problems or whatever.

So please give us your feedback.

How about 5th Wheel, do we have enough for your units?

Steve

I thought I might cross refer American RVs on the SMMT list

with your "manufacturer list" to see how they compared. A lot are already on your list.

I hope you might attract more members / subscribers if prospective members could see some relevance for them to get involved, if and when they see their RV is listed.

Some might be put off if they feel they are not on your list. I recall looking at the list quite early on to get a feel of the site.

Just an idea.

So here are the "missing" makes. No doubt not complete and others can chip in as always.

Airstream
Coachmen
Country Coach
Dynamax
Gulf Stream
Holiday Rambler
Itasca
Monaco
Newmar
Roadtrek
Safari
Sportscoach
Vanguard

In my earliest research pre buying an RV I recall all but two of the above names.

Best wishes,

Duadua

Additions added by Ken (Gaspode)

Engine BHP/PS
FWD/RWD
No of axles
LWB/SWB
Power steering (Y/N)
Manual/Auto
Cruise control?
Number of gears?
Traction control?
Gearlever (Dash/Floor)
Chassis type (standard/lowered)
Leisure battery A/H
Swivel seats?
Rear overhang size
Front/Rear lounge
Mid/Rear kitchen
Internal height
Bed sizes (W x L)
Mattresses (Foam/Spring)
Seperate shower?
Seperate freezer?
Waste tank heater?
Winterized (Y/N) or insulation class
Single/double floor
Heating system (blown/wet/radiant)
Water heater - Gas/Elec/Both

Will that do for now?

I reckon a lot more fields should also be mandatory, price, tank sizes, weights, payload etc. Also why does the text on the details screen mention the number of gas lockers? Surely should say Gas locker capacity.

Thanks Ken

Hi Steve

With the amount of interest in RVs on MHF and the wide difference in vehicle specs between RVs and European vehicles I can't help thinking that we would benefit from a seperate database for RVs and 5th wheelers.

What do the RV community think? Would they be prepared to populate the database if it existed?

Doubt if Nuke would thank me for that suggestion though an account of the work involved. Cool

Keep me head down now. Wink

Hi Ken
May be a good idea, even though I have just altered the fields. It would be better to do all alterations at the same time but an early decision from Dave would help.

I have sent you a pm with Spec DB so far and Dave I think

Steve
