I have made the following changes:

1. To gain access to the map you need to have at least one "APPROVED" entry in the database already.

2. Added an informative message to the Add a campsite stage to ensure members know that entries are checked before Approval for inclusion into the database and by entering invalid data will not allow them access to view the map.

3. Added individual Galleries for each entry allowing others to upload photos of a campsite / stopover to an entry that they didnt add to the database. (Accessed at the bottom of each individual entry)

4. Added Morocco as an option in the Add, Modify and Search pages

5. Changed Ireland to be Republic Of Ireland to prevent Confusion.

I Hope these small changes will enhance your use of the database even more, and make the admins life easier as well Smile

Thanks for adding the gallery. very often a picture is worth a thousand words.
I put a couple of wild spots in Gibraltar in the database but had to show them as being in Spain. Somehow I don't think that will go down too well with the Gibraltarians!

I have just received an update from a local contact in Gibraltar who states overnighting in Gib is no longer allowed and the police are liable to move you on. Certainly there has been a tightening up. Morrison's car park used to be useful too but they don't even allow the locals to use it for long term parking anymore let alone overnighting motorhomes. I will put a note on the Gib wildspots I have entered and change them to park places only, you can then either delete them or introduce Gibraltar as a country.

Hi,

thanks very much! Yes, I will certainly make use of the galleries.

BTW, Luxembourg still has no flag...

Best Regards,
Gerhard

NukeAdmin

Excellent changes so far to the Camp Site database.

Many thanks for that.

Have you seen the thread:

as we would dearly like your support or better still some sort of modification to the front pages for each camp site so that a clue could be found for RVers on the front page that an RVers Endorsement can be found inside!

Unfortunately I am not a web designer and do not know if it is possible, so we must bow to those who know.

Once again many thanks,

Duadua

NukeAdmin

I have been carrying on the discussion re RVers Endorsements on a number of threads

and it has been suggested that any further ideas be put in front of you, particularly so because decisions have already been made in earlier meetings.

I have not been a party to those meetings, and nor would I expect to be, and so am unaware of the points discussed and decisions made re altering the web and minority interests (in our case RVers, who clearly are a minority), and balancing the obvious time and money needed to keep this site going and developing it further.

So once again many thanks for the site and the improvements and developments seen thus far and apologies if my discussion is not up for renewal for the foreseeable future.

If however you would like to read some of my thoughts, from someone who is not a web designer, then do please find below my latest posting:

"I think we have established the worth of an RVers Endorsement for fellow RVers and the usefulness of an edited explanation confirming experience against length of rig.

It seems to me that all we need on the front page is RVers Endorsement with a default ?, and options for a tick or cross. This has to be accessible to all however, which I understand is not so easy, in order that the knowledge base can continue to grow. Having said that your latest post above seems more hopeful that this might be possible. This might allow us to search for sites with RVers Endorsement s, as others can search for Dogs Welcome.

Alternatively, could an icon be introduced on the top of the first page similar to the Motorhome Friendly Parking "P". This might also allow us to search for sites with RVers Endorsements, again as others can search for Dogs Welcome.

Where the detail of the RVers Endorsement goes does not really matter, provided we can search for it, and provided we can search the camp site data base for camp sites with an RVers Endorsement. It can be on page 2 under its own heading for easy finding and reading, or indeed on pages 3, 4 or 5 or whatever, similar to View the ..... Photo Gallery perhaps.

What dog owners and RVers possibly have in common is that they do not always have time to plough through every entry on the off chance that dogs are welcome and RVs and large MHs might get on, yet both criteria are of fundamental importance to each category of user. The idea of phoning round Europe to check beforehand is not at all attractive, unless you have shares in Vodafone et al. What is far more attractive is that this database should in time be all we need, forget all the brochures and paper lists we currently have to cart around.

Further more if this database should become accessible, in due course, to mobile phones and PDA's, it will be essential that the menu system is as succinct or as direct as possible otherwise the only beneficiaries will be the likes of Vodafone once again, as we plough through and download all the entries on the off chance we find what we are looking for.

Just think, you are in a cafe after a day's sightseeing around a foreign city, and your other half says I wonder if we could find a camp site around here somewhere. Take mobile out of pocket, search MHF database for suitable site for dogs or RV, having checked fellow RVers Endorsement, press highlighted telephone number, ... "Have you got space please for a 36 footer with 3 dogs for tonight?".

Continuing thanks,

Duadua

PS Thanks for our input re DataStorm. Out of the blue, so to speak, Bill Junior called me yesterday and today and confirms someone will be looking at it again tomorrow and will try to fix it. So fingers crossed. I didn't refer to the postings on this site, as I magine he may already be reading them and able to put 2 and 2 together re a Monaco and DataStorm, as it is not too difficult.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Well I certainly agree with the fact that we need RVer endorsement made available so hows about it?

Sounds like a great idea for RV owners/users.

Not only will it be unique in the UK but it will also help to dispell the "them and us" attitude we RVers seem to endure from other m/h owners wherever we go.

Nothing like a personal recommendation for anything I always say!!
