How will i fair with our A class RV and french campsites?

I have bought all the Alan Rogers books and i have been trawling for all i am worth this weekend through them, but what worries me is the size of my motorhome and will they take it in, obviously i can call them but just curious to know wether anyone else on here has had the same problem!!!

Or am i just being stupid and worrying to much?

Alex

Alex, I don't know if you know but the French star system for campsites as well as relating to things like type of roads , lighting and toilets for instance also refers to pitch size.

I quote:-
For * and ** the pitches must be 90 square m in average but not less than 70 squ. m
For *** the average is 95 squ m and **** 100 squ m. For these groups the minimum is 80 squ m

Obviously the larger the emplacement the better chance you have of fitting a mh of 9.5m in length onto it.
Having said that, many municipal sites, particularly those that are seasonal don't have defined emplacements.

Your greatest difficulty may be in manoeuvreing into an emplacement from what in some cases are quite narrow site roads and straightening up once on.
I've seen big mhs on site but not too many. Personally I think you_are_worrying too much, just go for it.
You could of course use aires!

Hi thanks for the reply, i have been looking in the Alan rogers books and have selected a good 2 dozen aires/campsites for on the way down to the south of france/on the south coast and coming back up, as you say i think i just need to make a short list, call them and practise my parking, for when i get to whateve ones i choose!!!

As you say i think i am just getting jittery as it is my maiden voyage, i am sure we'll be ok!!!

Thanks once again

Alex
