We just got back from a longish stay abroad. Unfortunately we had to leave the motorhome and fly instead, terrible way to travel.
Anyway we left the motorhome in its own garage next to the house.
First thing I did when we got back was to check all was well with the vehicle. Shock and horror - a mouse, a few of them I suspect, had managed to get in to the motorhome and ran rampant and unsupervised messing up all they could.
I have a few days of cleaning ahead of me.
After I had a look around the next thing was to start the engine. Started first time and that made me feel slightly better. I put the vehicle in to reverse and touched the throttle to ease my way out of the garage. No engine revs! I pressed the accelerator a few times and no change from the idle. I looked under the bonnet and notice a couple of cables have also been chewed. I therefor suspect my engines ability to change speed via the accelerator has been got at by the mice.
Any views on my luck with an insurance claim ?
ps I bought two mousetraps today and nearly broke my finger when testing them not once but twice.
Lesson learned - don't test mousetraps with your finger.

I would have thought you will be covered with the insurance but by the time youve made a claim and paid the excess you could have got an auto electrican to check it out and fix it and not put a huge dent in your no claims bonus

not too sure about insurance with the motorhome, however we had an infestation in our garage at home through the winter. they ate through our 15ft swimming pool, loads of fishing gear and numerous other expensive items totalling around £750. our insurance did not cover us for rodent infestations even though the garage and contents were covered. we would have been ok if we had just said the items had perished!!!!
