I have had this problem for a while now.
I can go on some sites and play a video, if it uses quicktime the sound is ok. If I go on say You Tube I can play the video but no sound.
I have also lost the volume button on the start bar. Its not hidden but lost. If I go to task bar and customise there is no volume icon.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Hi, got to "control panel" "sounds and audio devices" there you will find a tick box for your volume icon.

Hi, Johnny

Try Start : Control Panel : Sounds and Audio Devices : Advanced

Check the sliders are all 'up', and check none of them are on 'Mute'.

Thanks anyway.

Hi, Johnny

One last thing. Which internet browser are you using? It may be you don't have the right plugin for the browser. You might need an updated Flash or Shockwave or Quicktime plugin. Mind you, you say Quicktime is OK. Are you on Apple Mac? Using Safari? I know some stuff doesn't play on my iBook when I'm using Safari.

Hi Gerald, I am using Firefox, not on a Mac. MS XP with all updates.
Cheers.
