The new Fiat X2/50 is only supplied with one radio/key fob. The second key will operate the vehicle as Fiat supply it but without the radio element. It has the required chip in it.
However if you have a Cobra Thatcham 1 upgrade fitted it will only operate via the radio link so you only have one key fob to deactivate the alarm. An extra radio fob will cost about £190!
There are systems that have their own fob and that might be a better bet.

The Meta MT series of alarms are Cat1 and have seperate fobs. I have one fitted to my MH. Look in Yellow Pages for car security, or visit one of the advertisers on here.

Usually Van Bitz Strikeback alarm has two fobs. We have had all are MH fitted with this alarm and the last one came with one round fob and one rectangular fob. This deactivates the alarm but doesn't open the doors. But on the new MH will have to open the doors as well as it will be central locking but I should imagine we will still have two fobs. You could always give Van Bitz a ring.

i've been trying to get a cat 1 alarm fitted to my new bessacarr e425 and the local company who are going to do the job say there are getting reports of problems fitting them to the new ducato.
the only option at the moment is to fit one that uses the fiat key fob,although a new alarm is being tested by thatcham as we speak.its all to do with the new cambus wiring systems that are used on the new vehicles.
i'm not sure which type of alarm is going to be fitted but they are doing it on monday so hopefully all will be sorted by then.

I have a Sigma alarm fitted, it comes with two fobs and also operates the central locking. All lockers and the bonnet are alarmed, I have had no problems at all, apart from digesting the cost!! Shocked

I have the Thatcham upgrade which seems to work just fine. Second key does deactivate the alarm (by putting it in the ignition and turning - obviously rather loud until you do so!), although you cannot activate it. I have deferred buying the second remote fob for the moment.

I've always been reluctant to install an aftermarket alarm system since my sigma installation left me stranded in a car park in southern France.

Got a new X2/50 on it's way, (and wasnt aware that it only came with one fob), so need to look to beef up security a bit. Quite willing to pay good money to avoid the cost of a failed immobiliser again so would welcome any thoughts as to the best option that would offer a single keyfob for all.

It comes with one remote fob, the other key will disable alarm/immobiliser etc, but you have to put it in the ignition.

The cheapest I was quoted was £135 plus 30mins labour for extra remote fob. This was from Fiat van dealer, motorhome dealers were all around the £190 price point. It is because to add and extra fob (not replace one) the whole lot needs to be re-coded. This story was consistent across dealers. There again, they may just not want to do it.

Ok, There is no problem with retro fit alarms on the X250 so long as the installers know what they are doing.

Why oh why oh why do people have retro fitted immobilisers fitted on the X250 or any 06 or 07 chassis come to that? The Thatcham approved unit that is fitted by the manufacturer is miles better than anything that ir retro fitted! (unless it is GSM controlled to shut the vehicle down in the event of key theft or car jacking)

Given the sophistication of the 07 electrics the immobilisation cuts have to be very very un intrusive, to avoid the OBD throwing up a fault. Consequently a waste of time and money, given, as I say the manufacturers have already installed a Thatcham Category Two immobiliser fitted.
