I am due to get a new Fiat model MH in Sept (??? if the factory shuts down for a month for holidays as suggested in another post).
I for one will be having a Van Bitz Strikeback alarm fitted. I have had one on all my motorhomes. One mh did briefly have a Sigma alarm but was forever going off when it was windy, it went to Brownhills at Newark for adjustment but still went off in the wind. Also to set the alarm in doggy/sleep mode one had to insert the key in the ignition and count so many flashes..............
Strikeback is so easy to use and relieable I have found. and off course you have two key fobs. |

My experience is different from some of the other posts on here. I have the new X250 cab (actually a peugeot) which as standard has a cat 2 immobiliser.
I had it upgraded to cat1, a cobra. Mine came with 2 new keyfobs that operate both the new alarm and the central locking. I also have the standard key fob, which operates the locking but not the alarm, plus the standard key which does the same thing but using keys not remote.
So where's the problem? Sounds as if some have had cobras but without the key fobs??, if so I'd complain since on ,my experience they do come with the 2 keyfobs. |

How many key fobs did Peugeot provide with your new cab sailor ? Fiat provide only one with the Fiat X250 cab.
The Cobra alarm system, for convenience, works via the cab key fob. This means that owners of new Fiat cabs and post-fitted Cobra alarms only have one key fob to operate the system.

This is exactly the same set up as mine. The only difference is I have a Sigma alarm. It has caused no problems, it gives me the choice of locking with or without alarm. I suspect this is the standard setup and that there is not that much diference in most makes of alarm. |

In answer to Grizzly peugeot provided one key fob, plus a second key without a fob, which I believe is the same as Fiat.
My cobra cat 1 upgrade came with 2 additional remote fobs both of which operate the alarm and the central locking. The original Peugeot fob still works but only operates the locking not the new alarm.

Thanks Jeff...did you have the alarm fitted by your dealer ? We'll get onto this with ours. Ours had no additional fobs so the only way we can operate the alarm is via the one Fiat fob. This is not very convenient if we want to go off separately and leave the van alarmed.

Ours was fitted by the dealer, Hayes.
I guess the price could be relevant, don't know whether there are different prices depending on how many remotes you have. I paid about £530.
As I said we have the 2 new fobs with the Cobra, plus I find it useful to still have the original fob which doesn't operate the alarm, so if I want I can lock the van without setting the alarm.

Ours was fitted by the dealer too. There was no question of paying extra to get separate fobs. We were told that Cobra now put the electronics in the customers own fob -ie the Fiat one- for convenience. This was April 2007.
Back to the dealer.....

Just found this thread.
We had a Cobra Thatcham 1 burglar alarm fitted to our Trigano Tribute before we collected it last week.
Was a bit of a shambles, firm fitting got the wrong Fiat Ducato alarm which meant a 2 day delay in us collecting the van. Instructions from dealer were awful to say the least, he hadn't had time to find out. We were told we were the only folk who had asked for this alarm as if we weren't normal.
We also only have one electronic key fob with the alarm control on that.
We have one key without the electronics. This means that if both of us are in town doing different things, only the person with the electronic fob can get in. We previously had the meta alarm on our Autosleeper, both of us had an alarm control.
Our dealer has told us we have to go to a Fiat dealer to get another key fob, alarm fitters cannot supply another. We are in Scotland, we will go to a Fiat garage next week to order one, then we will have to go back to get this key programmed or something.
Will be interesting to see what price we are quoted. We also want another key because the battery in our previous alarm controls could "go" occasionally and at least we had another one till another battery could be bought.
We wish we had waited till we got the van and then had it fitted by an alarm company ourselves instead of dealer organising it. We were charged £550 for this privelege.
