Hello

That is very interesting re the Vodafone data card. I suppose they are locked to a particular network just like many mobiles. No doubt an independant mobile retailer can offer some help.

I wonder if my Italian thing (pictured above) is the same? It is made by a firm called Huawei. Can't see any useful info on their website though.

Hello

I ordered one earlier today. I have down loaded the program ready. I think my Italian modem thing is unlocked but for £41 it was worth getting the other as a "spare".

Thanks Neil and Sue for helping to sort this out. Can you also arrange lottery wins?

Sorry to be thick, but can someone explain in easy terms exactly what you get, how it works, what else you might need, and what the running costs are. Thanks. Crying or Very sad

Hi Dougie

Check you have a PCMICA slot in your laptop before proceeding, newer laptops don't have, they now have an Express card slot.

You need an unlocked 3G Data card from eBay.. about 40 quid
TMobile payg sim card .. 50p ,
Software from Option.com to run the card,... free

Step 1
Activate the sim with your mobile phone and add some credit, and ask for GPRS activation

Step 2
Download the software and install, his has to be configured for TMobile,

Step 4
Insert sim into data card, and put into PCMICA slot

Open the Optioin Connect software, connect.

Start surfing
Cost is capped at £1 per day

Hi Jim,

Thanks very much for that - all now clear. Unfortunately, I sold my last laptop a few months back with the PCMICA slot. Don't have one on the new one. Sad Any alternatives?

Dougie.
