Greetings,

We use a small 2 cup Greek cafeteria on the gas ring for authentic Greek coffee, although we also use instant coffee as well.

We also like Lift lemon tea which is drunk mostly in our van.

We stick to a simple plastic over-cup filter with the triangular filter papers that can then be thrown in the bin grounds and all. I do not need the hassle of washing out (and probably breaking) a cafetiere when I'm in the van. It is cheap and still tastes miles better than instant.

We use the cafetière and grinder but what amazed us last year in France was the difficulty we had in finding beans. Had to make do with ready ground till we got to Switzerland.

Put it on the list for take away stocks :- Coffe Beans, Mint Sauce, Redcurrant Jelly, Gravy Granules ( 4 me lazy chef), Salad Cream, Decent Tea, Curry the makings of.

Roll on the 1st May

Stovetop aluminium espresso maker for us - no space for anything else. Our memory foam duvalets have just arrived, don't know how we will find room for them either.

Totally agree. And ideally the beans are Guatamalan from the coffee lady who has a van at St Quentin market. She sells as beans or grinds them for you, she also has a shop in Cambrai.

But these days, never instant coffee.

We got round the breaking problem by having a stainless steel cafetiere - might dent or scratch but won't break.

Still have to wash it out though........ Sad

we use a cafetiere, and Grand-mere coffee (buy in bulk from French s/markets where special offers are on. We always seem to find one with a kilo from the price of 750g. I think we paid just under 4 euros last week at Auchan. We came back with 7 kilos - should keep us going at home until nest trip at the end of august....The Brits just don't do enough real coffee to bring down the prices in UK supermarkets. And we don't swill the cafetiere down the van sink - swill out & give a nearby tree some organic material!
For a quick cup "on the road" we use the instant coffee "sticks".
