insurance cover for importing from Germany Forums

I will be collecting my new motorhome from a dealer in Germany mid June. I would like to know if the insurance situation has changed and better cover than 3rd party only is now available? I think it was mentioned a while ago that the rules for non UK registered vehicles was to change in June.

Well done for going down the import route soon we will be taking over the UK all driving on the 'wrong' side of the cab!!! Wink

As far as I am aware nothing has changed but I did import mine last month, we were covered 3rd party on the export licence plates for 14 days but as soon as the vehicle hit UK terra firma it was covered Fully Comp as per standard insurance policy as I had provided Safeguard with the Chasis No a week before collection and had the cover note in my grubby mitts.

Bear in mind this was for a brand new unregistered vehicle.

Thanks Sagedog, mine is also brand new unregistered, I was sure I had seen that there were to be changes in June, maybe just wishfull thinking.
