We have had one for some years now but only used it a handful of times.
It does do more or less what it says on the tin; smokeless because the food is kept separate from the charcoal, relatively easy to clean and the outside is cool to the touch while in use.
However, the wife is an impatient sorts nowadays and has a large appetite (alright, well actually me on both accounts!) and we found it a bit slow to cook the food. Furthermore you are very restricted on the amount you can cook and by the time it has finished cooking you’ll have gone down the pub instead.
In my view it is good for 2, if you have the time to sit and watch it slowly cooking away, that said ours is a few years old now and I am sure there is a ‘new and improved’ one on the market that may be better.
I do also recall that the sausages would escape off the grill on a regular basis – so be warned!

Use it every time I go away in the Van, used it at Easter at the Bishop's Waltham rally. Cooked for myself and my gentleman friend, Baked herbie potatoes, BBQ'd veggies, Pork chops and chicken breasts. Easy. I bought it as it needs very few charcol nuts.(about 7 ) Have had it three years now. It takes a bit of getting used to but I have cooked a Sunday Roast on it. I use the area around the fire nest for all sorts of veg wrapping it all in foil. On the top grill I Put the meat in foil , put on lid and walk away and leave it. Come back in about one and half hours and it's all done. To stop the sausage fall off I purchased a holey BBQ pan from Lakeland Ltd and use that. It fits nicley on the Cobb and you can still put the Cobb lid on. Also that pan is good for BBQ veggies, peppers etc.
I did twice experiment with cooking a cake and an upside down pudding. This was after the Cobb had cooked the dinner and was getting cooler, using baking tins. Turned out OK, but then I am not renowned for being a good cook anyway.
Would advise it for only two people meals though. Not suitable for a larger family.
I have used it on top of a plastic table with no heat through problems.
It's a good BBQ for me but would not suit all.

True if you want to do steak or sausages for more than two you have a problem but where the cob excels is cooking joints or whole chicken using very little fuel.
I have cooked for 6 adults on mine, roast tates in the bottom and a gammon joint on top. The design has not changed over the years but the materials used in its manufacturer have, mainly because of a safety issue.

Had ours now for its second season, certainly not a fast ccoker but wuill do whole chicken even if it is a bit slow. flavour is excellent. And uses a small amount of fuel. Especially like the cool outer casing as well
Almost bought one from a mail order catalogue firm but suddenly decided to google "cobb" and found a supplier at half price, it was last years model though with a brown coloured lid, chicken tastes even better!!!
