I discovered the other day that my waste tank is leaking at the tap. I can wiggle it and a few drops come out. Anyone tryed to repair these or should |I go for a new CAK? since the tap is one of those little ones used for homebrewing!!

These are seriously not worth repairing, seeing as they are only a few bob.
Perhaps one of those homebrewers will donate one.

Sorry I didnt make myself clear - its the join between the tap and the tank which is loose and looks like it has been heat welded with a soldering iron in the past!

If its the seal between them, then there is a very good substance on the market for this called "LEAKFIX".
It is available from any motor factors and i can highly recommend it.

If it's the original, cheapskate A/S tap, then I'd [u:3639e56b66]bin it[/u:3639e56b66]!
Frustration at the constant blockages and the never-ending dribble when trying to drain down my Talisman, I bought a Fiamma "whoosher" (don't know what else to call it), which was a slider in a housing, attached to a great big, fat hose. It emptied the whole plot in about 2.5 nano-seconds - it was brilliant.
I've not got round to anything so exotic on the Rienza yet, although the tap looks a little bit larger than the Talisman's pathetic little outlet.
I'd intended to look at marine chandlers for an appropriate, large waste gate. Ask yourself "Why has the waste tank got such a tiny tap?" Cheapness is the only answer I could come up with.
"Whooshers Rule!"

It is the original AS tank and will investigate the options of another. I have always been a little underwelmed by the tap - one grain of rice and you run for a twig to shove up it and as for coffe granuals - dont get me started on coffee granuals......... mutter..mutter.....grummble

You've just reminded me. Pre-whoosher, I even resorted to putting the end of the waste pipe in my mouth (yes, you read that right!) and blowing back up the pipe to free the endless obstructions. This resulted in mucho-gurgle-o and very strange looks from neighbouring pitches.
It was during my resulting illness that I decided to fit a bigger tap!!!

Ah, memories, in our old Mobilvetta we also used to have a 'whoosher', i used to look forward to pulling up to the emptying point, pulling the lever and whoosh a full 80ltrs gone in seconds, Autosleeper owners used to look on in envy, now i,ve got an autosleeper and the tables have turned. We,ve got plans to have a larger waste tank fitted later and top of the shopping list is a whoosher (lurve that name).
Also, looking back, if you didn't get the outlet exactly over the hole and stood too close you often got a shin shower of grey water, not nice!

Yes, recalling the whoosher is also bringing back a few more memories.
Extolling the virtues of my newly-created whoosher to a chum, we went to a site in Devon with them (they had a Legend). Eager to demonstrate the awesome power of my whoosher, and my friend anxious to see my much-trumpeted device in action, he accompanied me to the emptying point.
I quickly assembled the hose onto the whoosher's casing (probably [u:ac6ab30ad2]too[/u:ac6ab30ad2] quickly, in retrospect) and with a grand flourish, I pulled the lever.
I had broken one of the two bayonets holding the hose onto the whoosher, and the weight of God-knows-how-many gallons of grey, greasy, spotty water shot sideways out of the hose connection, missing the trap by a mile and flooding the roadway for what seemd miles around!
The paroxysms of laughter from my erstwhile chum did nothing to ease the acute, no, [u:ac6ab30ad2]crippling[/u:ac6ab30ad2] embarrassment I suffered, particularly when sneered at with utter distaste by the queue of snooty caravanners waiting to empty their twee little beer-kegs-on-wheels.
It took me the best part of half an hour to sweep and hose away every last vestige of sodden Rice Krispie (persistent little sods, aren't they?), rogue gangs of tea leaves, and greasy 'things' that just stubbornly sat glued to the tarmac.
My chum still hoots with laughter at the mention of my much-vaunted whoosher.
The Mk II version worked better, I'm glad to say.
