Hi, hope somebody can advise.

We are still looking at buying our camper to tour Europe every other month.

We want to buy in Germany and keep the mh in europe and return to it every other month.

Our problem is that we can't think of a way of insuring the van, ie we don't have a german address and therefore cannot use a german insurer.

We don't want to register the mh in the uk as we plan on selling in Europe in a years time, therefore no UK insurer will touch us.

We are stuck.

Can anyone help think of a solution?

You would be better to Reg in uk. only takes a week if no probs and sell uk as you will get a higher price for it. it not just about having a German address, you sound as if you are a uk resident !so thats your country of registration . because you will have to declare what country you pay income tax in ? if its second hand over 6k and 6 mths old no taxes are due

Thanks Silver, we are uk resident, but didn't want to go through the hassle of registering it in the uk as we will not be using it in the uk.

Out of curiosity, do you need to change things on the van like speedo lights etc to get it registered in the uk? And how much does the registration process cost?

We were thinking of taking out a German post box address in Germany, does anyone think that would work?

Anyone got any out of the box ideas?

Hi,

If as you say that you are going to buy and store it in Germany, would it not be possible to use the storage place as your address.

I would also have thought that the German dealer that you are buying from would have assisted in your quest as I would assume that you would use the same person to sell it on for you.

This is only my opinion from the information given.

Hi Drew, thanks for the reply, good idea but we will be travelling all over Europe and storing it in different countries.

I have asked the dealer for help but they just say that they can't really do much apart from offer a 30 day insurance policy to get it to the UK for registration.
