Anybody out there that can recommend a drive away awning which will match up with sliding door side of my hi-top LWB Citroen Relay? I’m having trouble finding a design which will allow the sliding door to open fully which will not foul the top of the door. Many designs I’ve seen have a reduction in the pitch of the awning roof from back to front which doesn’t cater for the projection of the door when it is open (about 15 cms). I estimate that the awning / van ‘docking portal’ will have to be 2.4 metres high and 3 metres wide. Maybe a happy camper can recommend a manufacturer who can custom make one for me?
There was loads of room in this van until two rainy weeks in France heralded the sound of tiny feet...
thanks
Andy

Welcome to m-h facts

I saw one the other week on a VW that more than doubled the size of the van and had a useful transition area between the awning and the van. There was a fibreglass pole ran through the transition pieces roof which hooked onto clips on the van side. This was much easier than the plasic sections which are normally slid onto both van and awning.

The awning was supported by carbon fibre/fibreglass poles similar to those used in tents.
What I further liked when they took it down, within minutes it folded very compact and into a bag the size of a Silver Screens bag which amazed me considering size.

I didnt get the make but am sure this will be on display at one of the forthcoming shows

How about the Khyam Excelsior MOTOR-DOME - ugly but big and practical? Here http://www.camperlands.co.uk/ebrochures/awnings.htm

Or these lightweight items, the Sunncamp Moto or Cruiser awnings? Here http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Outdoor_Megastore_Utility__ _Specialist_Tents_61.html

Were the "sounds of tiny feet" possibly the "sounds of tiny wellies!"?

Welcome to the site, by the way. Smile

Barry
