Has anybody managed to get their car covered by FULLY COMP insurance when it is on a trailer behind the motorhome, and if so which company provides this level of cover?
I have contacted several car insurance companies but despite covering a car fully comp under normal useage they all restrict cover when on a trailer to 3rd Party only. My motorhome insurers (Caravan Guard) cover the trailer and "motorhome equipment" on the trailer but this specifically excludes cars.
Caravan Guard did quote me a letter they had on file (apparently in response to a question in one of the motorhome magazines some while ago) from the AA stating that any car insured with the AA under a fully comp policy would also be covered fully comp whilst on an A frame or trailer. However when I called the AA today I was informed that this was not the case and that they only provided 3rd Party cover while on a trailer.
It would be much appreciated if anybody can point me in the right direction!

Yes I have, but only by virtue of a Motor Trade and Recovery policy, that has a GOODS IN TRANSIT extension added, I cant think of any other policy that may cover it,
Just for info when I was asking all the right questions they told me third party cover would be when towed by A frame ie wheels on the road, if trailor was used no cover at all, hence the goods in transit extension to my trade policy

Hello

This post prompted me to phone my insurers.

I phoned Prudential who insure the car. I explained how it was towed but they could not answer the question. They did however contact the underwriters and then advised the car was fully comp under the terms of the policy when towed on the A frame.

Prudential - 0800 300 300. Check the facts yourself though before buying a policy.

I have found that comforts cover for my motorhome also covers a trailer up to the value of Ģ3000.00 as for the car it is covered with a policy from NFU fully comp inc euro cover i hope this is of some assistance to you.
