Can anyone help, our electric step on the Hymer is acting up, it comes down ok but needs a small push before it will go up again. The most worrying problem is that it wont stay completely in the up position and often slips slightly outwards when we are moving, this causes a buzzer to sound. |

| From past experiences, it sounds to me like you need to replace the relay box. |

Hello Sizeyuk
I'v had trouble with my step in the past. I found that they are a badly sealed unit for the position they are placed on the van, ie underneath in all the muck and gunge.
The end cover protecting all the electrics attached to the step is removable by removing two screws, check that it is not full of water and mud as mine was. Clean out check electrical connections, replace if needed, spray with WD 40 and replace cover only this time seal the endges with any form of mastic. The cutout that stops the step and cuts off the power is above the step as it returns to traveling position, the step presses up against it opens a switch and cuts off the power. Check that this is not corroded or siezed. And as mentioned by a previous member a good alround greasing of joints will do no harm.
Hope this will be of some help. Regards, Eddie |

| Thanks for the suggestions re the step, we have discovered that the problem is a broken tooth on the ratchet thingy that winds the step up and down, its the last one on the wind up thats broken thats why the step was slipping out. Any suggestions where we might buy one without having to pay Hymer prices. |
