Hi Guys, A problem appeared over the weekend with my toilet which hopefully someone can help with.
I noticed 'water' collecting in the corner of the shower tray/floor over the weekend and didn't think too much about it as I had not put a plug in the floor when using the sink and have found out before that sometimes waste water comes out of this when the sink is emptied - problem?, anyway this collection was of a 'yellow' tone and yes it was pee, a pleasant 30 mins was then spent taking the side off the bench and discovering a large collection on top of the cassette and underneath it. On checking the operation of the release flap on the top i have noticed there is a gap between the toilet pan and the rubber gasget, is this a gasget that gets compressed over time and should be renewed. I had always used the toilet in the closed condition andthen flushed, since then I used it open to save anything collecting and not going down the hole. Hopefully someone can help with my problem as it certainly 'peed' me off over the weekend.

Hi brackpack1945
I guess that your toilet is of the Thetford variety, if so it is an easy task to change the seal gasket. Find an agent, purchase the correct one for your unit and you will find basic instructions enclosed to help the fitment. It basically consists of removing a few screws removing the old seal cleaning the recess in which it fits and then reverse the removal procedure.

What does everyone else do?
I did read a thread about this a while ago, but it was before I got my van with a loo and didn't really know what it was all about.
But I can see now, so wondered what's the best thing to do? |

Hi Bratpack
I am guessing that the seal has gone "wibbly" around the edges like this

As suggested get one from a caravan spares place or even a site if they have a good shop and replace it. There is a thread, I think, on here somewhere, that says that the wibbles come out if you leave the old seal to stand or soak in olive oil...or something like that.
