Hey guys!

Heading down there in a couple of weeks and wondered if you guys had any sweet recommendations for places to stay?

The whole French camping season starts winding up mid-Sept I gather, so want to get somewhere that's actually open!

Anyone give me a starter for ten?

Wink

If you decided to hop over to Corsica then I'd recommend Baie des Voiles near Porto Vecchio -- superb setting. You'd be able to camp right on beach overlooking beautiful bay on a site with a pool. Despite that it's fairly peaceful. And by going further south you might get better weather.

Hiya stormy,

2 aires i've entered in the camping database, one at Saintes maries de la mer and one at gruissan plage, both reccommended, search the database with 'maries' and 'gruissan' to view.

1 site we stayed at a few years back, Camping les Tamaris near Frontignan, Expensive but great facilities (pool, restaurant etc) and right on the beach. Under 'Frontignan' in the caravan europe book vol 1.

Happy travels,

pete.

Corsica, eh? Where do you sail from, and is it v. pricey?

Peejay - Frontignan, do you have an address for it? I don't have the book you speak of.

Corsica - cheapest is Moby lines from Italy (Genoa or Livorno), but boat failed to turn up for us! We switched to Corsica Ferries - another Italian company - they nearly as cheap. You might be able to do it for under Ģ300 return in September. They go from Nice in France, and Savona and Livorno in Italy.

If you're considering going as far west as Gruissan, then a campsite I love (not motorhomed there but plenty do) near Beziers is Mediterranee Plage, right on the beach

It's postal address is Vias, which is a bit of a camping Benidorm, but it's really in Portiragnes Plage - a pretty purpose-built village. No Brits so depends if you like that or not. In September it will be v quiet.
