Hi all,

When I purchased my van in 1993 I contacted Thames Water for their advice.

Their Technical Adviser suggested that a yearly dose of half a teaspoonful of domestic bleach should be flushed through the system i.e. depending on how often the vehicle is used. If the vehicle is constantly used then there is no need for bleaching.

Nowadays I MT the the tank after every outing and "flush & rinse" before filling for the next trip.

In the 14 years that we have had the vehicle we have always used the tank water for everything and never experienced any problems. My feelings are that people make too much of a fuss regarding their drinking water.

Just be sensible.

Regards

Drew

We tried making a cup of tea with fresh water from the tank and it tasted yuck Shocked even with the purifying tablets, maybe because the van is 15 years old, now we have a water container for brews etc. and the tank water for everything else Smile

A dose of Milton liquid, from the chemist costs about 50P, left for 24hrs then drained cured the problem I had because I had left water in the tank for a couple of weeks without using it. Then you need to flush it out but this is quickly done
