You'll get as many opinions as there are motorhomers I expect.
My opinion is that the interior layout is one of the highest priorities you can have with your motorhome, as that's the place you spend most of your time.
Having owned a range of layouts including fixed bed, We have opted for a 1999 Hymer A class, an S630 which has the drop down bed, a good shower/washroom, and a really comfy U shaped rear lounge. The drop down bed is very nicely done and comfortable to sleep in. The only thing I would like is an oven and grill, but I am stumped to find a location for one. The fixed bed layout was in a Rapido 740F, and we found it a stretch to make it up. Brilliant storage space underneath though!
I've chosen A class for what might probably be our last motorhome because I like the integrated cab feeling, and, with Hymer, the seating in the cab is much better than the base manufacturer's standard offering.
Opinion wise, I also like the external appearance of the A class Hymers on a personal preference basis, and from the moment we became "aware" of motorhomes we've been taken with the Hymer look.
Don't forget, there's no such thing as the perfect motorhome!
As previously mentioned this is a matter of taste. For me I have a Hymer 2001 584 , the bar version.
The interior layout meets our requirements, plenty of room for two, a good seperate shower, pull down bed, very comfortable to drive and quite economical doing around 30 to the gallon. If needed it will purr along all day at 65 on the M way with plenty of torque. However we rarely feel the need to travel at this speed as part of the fun is the process of getting there as well as arriving by taking a leisurely ride and enjoying it.
In terms of a recommendation I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 584 but it is a personal thing; so whilst it meets our needs it may not meet yours.
Just to add my opinion to this we have and love our hymer 694G A class at 24ft 6in we can take it just about any where and with the large bed over the garage and over the front seats we have a spare if we nead ie one of us not well we also have the bar version also large sep shower and loads of storage space with the garage as well, have not found one we like better regardless of price and we get about 25 to the gallon well loaded ps we also have oven and grill , and its called Archie
A reliable place to service my Hymer gas appliances
Am new to all this. Just bought a Hymer (Eriba Jet) and we love it. Looking for a place (Nr North London) where I can get all the gas appliances services and a few alternations made (seat belts and head lights etc). Can anyone help?
MG caravans in Hertford can do habitation checks and services. Don't know about the vehicle side though.
There is also Cranhams just off the M25 on the A127 (?) but I don't think they service vehicles not bought there.
If you find any good places for this work i'd like to know too!
