Dave, The VW in my humble opinion is the iconic campervan of all time, I cannot think of one modern van that will be remembered or have a such a following as the old VW.

I did the admin for "the Big Split" (pictured). It was done at Vanfest in the Malvern Hills in Sept 2003.
( Martha is in the Centre VW Roundel)
The original idea came from the VW logo made up of VW campers in an advert by VW (strangely enough!! Very Happy ) Vanfest performed the Logo too and it was featured in "The Car's The Star" a few years ago. Quintin Wilson was the presenter. The Next layout was " The Big Bay" followed by The Split. There are no plans to do a T25 or other shape due to not enough interest + hard to get enough participants.

P.S. I can recognise a VW Camper owner at 50 metres ...... They all drag their knuckles on the ground due to the heavy steering!! Laughing Laughing

You could have put an arial on it instead of leaving the odd 5 vans doing nothing Laughing

The reason they were there like that was because they were very late arriving and the helicopter was paid for by the hour and they are not cheap to hire! You will notice that parts of the Big Split are missing if you look at the fender. This was because people did not turn up as they had promised. We did our bit .... Joe public didn't do his!!

Hi Linda,

I drive a green tipper buggy at Vanfest and wear a stetson ... give an old guy a wave if you spot me. I will try to find Stateside tuning and say, "hello"

I've had a couple of VW campers and I think the 5 spare vans in the picture represent 'yet another bit dropping off'.
