This probably seems like a dumb question, but here goes.
We intend to start full timing next year and one question that has bugged us is"What do people(ie full timers) do all day?" If that does sound a bit dumb let me expand a little.
Obviously some of the time we will be travelling but when we pitch up somewhere for a few days (or weeks), how do we fill the time. We will be on a fairly tight budget. I intend taking a small scooter/motor bike so we can get about without the 'van. Some time is obviously devoted to shopping, washing and other domestic chores but then what? We both read but will not fill the whole day with this, nor will we be slaves to the goggle box. Help/ideas please. Confused

You need a hobby. Have you ever done any family history research ? It's very addictive, can be done on a laptop with internet access and a subscription to something like Ancestry.com or Genesreunited and you can hang all your travels on visits to places your families came from.

Excellent thread!

We've thought a lot about this one and came to the conclusion that it was a perfect opportunity to do the stuff we always say we're going to do but never seem to have the time!

In addition to other suggestions...

We've been buying DVD's that we've always wanted to see - along with quiz DVD's for the rainy days.

I'm going to take up crocheting again after a gap of about a hundred years. Have bought a book and hooks. Am going to make a patchwork quilt using wool from the countries we visit.

I'm taking my guitar too and have printed off loads of lyrics and chords so I can learn them all and come back sounding like Joni Mitchell.

Bill's going to learn all the languages he's always said he's going to learn. And I'm hoping he might also learn to cook. Razz

We've also thought that it might be a good idea to do something that also might make a bit of money. Was impressed with a post made by a MH'er who travels with a carpet cleaner and spends some time cleaning carpets on camp sites.

I love decorative arts - am just about to embark upon a 'starlit' ceiling in the MH bedroom. If it goes well I'd like to do the same for others while we are travelling and maybe make a bob or two on the side.

The world, is your lobster. Smile

Tantric sex ?

We met a bloke in Spain working a lucrative scam advertising tantric sex sessions using a premium rate phone number. Punters rang in , left a message and paid a fortune. Their messages were never answered. He was running all kinds of similar scams. Easy money !

To be honest, this has been one of my considerations before heading into a fulltime cruise of Europe. I am on a pension (early retirement), so income will be fixed and relatively tight, and there are only so many landscape views that can raise the wow, even though there are many places that I would like to visit. I have done a budget, where I hope to keep site fees low, and am looking at having a scooter/motorbike for those town visits. The diesel allowance will give me a range of about 1800 to 2000 miles a month. So it looks like I maybe will have to find a hobby to fill in the remaining hours apart from the reading, DVD's and net surfing!

Hi Bear

I think the most important thing is to have a plan - call it a life plan if you like so you are asking the right question, keep planning and it will work out.

There are many "problems" to overcome when considering fulltiming, but this one would not even register on my radar!
