Try after you have refreshed the webpage,

And keep holding down CTRL UNTIL AFTER the new window appears.

How does holding the control key down come into refreshing the page? Or does this explain why I can rarely find anyone in the chatroom, and when I do, I seem to get no responses Evil or Very Mad
When I enter I still get error messages and "do I still wish to run scripts " I just ignore it and carry on. When I exit though, it still shows me in there even if I hit the browser's refresh button.
I don't think I'll bother anymore Rolling Eyes

Gill,
You misread my posting.
1.go to homepage.
2.hit the refresh button.
3.keep holding down CTRL and press chat room, but depress CTRL UNTIL window appears.

Also Gill,
You are possibly behind a firewall!
I believe the way round this is to Hold CTRL key and depress "chat room" in the Left column, but there Must be someone in there already for this one to work.I have not tested this one yet myself so its on someones recommendation.
