Hi All,
I own a Swift Royale 610, I have had it parked on the hardstanding outside my house since moving here last year, I rent from a Housing Association. Now I have been contacted by the housing officer informing me that I am in breach of my Tenancy agreement by having it parked there. I have complied with her instruction and moved it the three foot or so and parked it on the road, taking up three valuable parking spaces, and leaving my hard standing empty.
My question is, has anyone else had experience of this and do I have any recourse, or do I just have to accept it as another nonsensical law.?
Charly

Iguess, Charlychoc, that if you look at your tenancy agreement you'll find a reference to parking etc. If so, having signed said agreement, I'm afraid you're stuffed! Be cautious of on road parking also. No-one has a right to park on the public highway and you may be moved on for causing an obstruction.

Parking in the street is also an invite for vandalism from jealous neighbours and yobs, it would also be an easy target for theft .. and may invalidate your insurance if you have stated it's parked 'off road'
Better to find secure storage rather than risk your 'pride and joy'

We park our Knaus on the street 365 days a year (except when we are away of course)because we have no choice (it is used by my wife as her transport daily). In a year we have had a total of three incidents. 1 theft (of the reversing camera; think they thought i was a satnav) 2 counts of malicious damage; two nasty gouges in the gas locker door (so not too bad as easily replaced) and the wing mirror (nearside) being deliberately broken. It turns out that a number of wing mirrors up the street were 'done' on the same night so not 'targeted' at us probably.

YMMV and we are not a major conurbation being a town of 120.000 but live next door to two pubs near the town centre.

Bear1, You ask "What free country?" Is that the freedom to park your MH on a road.....or the freedom to drive down the road with out having to avoid parked MH's?

You cannot have it both ways? Wink

Hi Charly

Have you tried to talk sensibly with the association. I understand that they have rules etc. but a little negotiation pointing out the sillieness of the situation (ie taking up 3 spaces on the road and maybe incurring the wrath of other residents etc) may just lead to a special arrangement.

Or am I talking through my hat........again... Confused

I'm sorry but this is one of my pet hates!

People who buy vehicles without any houghtof providing off road parking space, and just use the public highway. The roads are made for driving, not parking, our town is usually an obstacle course with cars and vans parked on fairly narrow roads. Why should I have to pay through my council tax for some one else to park their vehicle? There should be a rule that anyone purchasing any type of vehicle should have off road parking facilities, provided by themselves not by my council tax.

I feel a lot better now.

I think that we perhaps have to consider sometimes that what we think of as an object of beauty and desire, a symbol of freedom and our pride and joy......is to others nothing more than a huge plastic blob that at times may block their view and/or spoil their perception of a nice front drive and is nothing more than a pain in the arse.....etc etc etc.

If you don't give a toss about your neigbour then no problem, even if they were living there first......do YOU care? Are YOU happy to live with the constant hassle, threats and possible damage. Its not I think about giving in, its about being sensible. Different maybe if when they viewed their house, prior to buying and moving in, when your pride and joy was there for all to see and admire Wink

Perhaps when we first think about buying our pride and joy part of the equation in ALL the cost involved should also be the possibility of an alternative parking location.

I used to park my overlander Motorhome trucks in my drive......Village, detached house, long drive etc., and gave no real thought about it. In fact I thought they were magnificent beasts, who could not love them! My neigbour bought a large smelly fishing boat that he also thought was magnificent. I thought it was ugly, smelly and an outragous inconsideration.

We both found alternative parking...........
