I am trying to get my insurance costs down. Got a good quote but it requires the installation of a Thatcham 2 immobiliser. I took the van down to my local alarm fitters (who come highly recommended) who were happy to do the job. However, they are stumped: a Thatcham 2 immobiliser must disable 2 separate circuits and they can find only 1 to disable - the starter motor. As the van is a Mercedes diesel, the ignition is vacuum driven and so cannot be electronically disabled.

Has anyone succcessfully fitted an immobiliser to a similar configuration? Help!

Hi you will need to get a fuel shut of system that is digitally coded to prevent electrical by pass.

My advice is not to bother as the savings will take ages to re-coup
