hi guys
well we had GREAT TIME AT YORK , arriving at 0830 from cc club site in york , had an hour to walk around the camping areas looking for m.h.f. logos , think we missed loads due to silver screens , we didnt find people but we did find , hymer dave , the van with the www.vangear logo on rear (sorry forgot the names ) , the red eyed jolly roger , .
loved all the wind toys ( i now have a use for those old fishing rods !!!! )
we scoured the show for bargains and you may have seen us carrying about half a fiamma ladder each or later carrying a huge top box thru the camping areas much to folks amusement , we also got a status ariel kit and loads of bits and bobs as were newbies and the money we saved easily paid for our trip
guess you have to be early for the bargains .
didnt have to queue for anything except chips at lunch time .
sorry for anyone that didnt enjoy it maybe try again before giving up .
see you next time !
cheers
kenny and stella

Hi,
Well I survived the show! It was fun most of the time.
I was marshalling for the C&CC I arrived lunch time Wednesday.
We were informed that we had to peg our area for 376 units. So off we went string, tape measures and pegs. By 8.30pm the whole area was marked out, pitches, roads, communal areas.
Off we went for a celebratory drink, and nice lie in in the morning as the campers weren't comming on the field until 10.30am.
Thursday morning 8.30am the gates were opened because the show traffic was causing a major blockage on the local roads at rush hour. We were asked to get ready for them comming in.
The main organisers put all the traffic in to holding lines.(like waiting for a ferry)until we were all ready.
Then it began with about half the campers not displaying their ticket in the windscreen (how did we know which area to send them?).
From 8.30am to 8.30pm they just kept comming, we worked in shifts so that we had time for lunch and tea.
Most people were very friendly, however there were the minority who didn't like where the were parked or wanted spaces for friends. These were the people who held up the traffic while arguments ensued!
By 8.30pm we had over 400 campers on site bearing in mind we had only pegged for 376 plus a few spares just in case! and this was the first day!
Friday 8.30am we started all over again where would we put them?
we moved our vans to fit more in we used communal areas, every bit of available grass was filled. By tea time our area was fit to burst, a lot of campers became very territorial and more arguments ensued.
All we could then do was send people who were prebooked down to the general area.
Saturday was my free day I could wander around the show. (or so I thought) Friends and family turned up at various times so I used a lot of gas making endless cups of tea and coffee.
Why all the extra vans? Warners people said someone was running a scam printing false tickets! I have another idea but can't print it here.
The show itself was very good. There were very busy times and there were lulls when you could ask the exhibitors any questions you had.
I enjoyed the evening entertainment although again busy.
I did spot Ben & Lizzie but had very little time to find anyone else. I never saw one MHF poster whilst siting vans.

So how many 'vans do you reckon in attendance george?
I was told the figure was around 3000 last year, do you reckon that has been exceeded?
Like you I failed to spot MHF as mentioned in another post, I did go looking for RobMD, because his was the only description of whereabouts I could remember! Welsh flag and red ensign, red general camping etc. etc. We ended up in the white area, about a stones throw from the Brownhills tent!
yeah i peered in a few windows, didnt find one! never mind, met a chappie on the gate who we first met at lincoln, they worked really hard, it was good to see him, the lines (we got there thurs aft) were a brilliant idea,we didnt have our ticket, cos we left home before they would have arrived, and they had a prob anyway, so we picked ours up at the gate, but we knew where we were parking!!! We saw ben and lizzie and their lovely four legged friend, what a sweetie!!! sadly we only saw ben again in passing, and because we went away before York instead of after will not be able to go to beverley, We were parked in front of steve and pat who we met at lincoln also, and had a phone call from someone else we met there, and met up with them on sunday for a chat, (?)names eek, but told them about mhf and they will have a look. Also met a couple alan and judith who we met at york last year, when we hired a benimar anthus. The last night band was rocking, if anyone saw a blonde cuddly person at the back a blue FADE fleece and blue shorts, and sandals (cos i'm brave!) it was me!!!!! I got up for their encore it was brilliant, as i said on mhf sticker thread they are coming to aldershot on the 10th oct i think, so if you can get to see them do! they had a ball and just got everybody happy cos they were! Juke box jive, watch out for them! ok time for a breath!
I made out a list of who was going & any info such as flags, type of van, area etc so I could meet people. We spent quite a lot of time walking around looking for any that matched a description. I accosted one couple & accused them falsely of being Ben & Lizzie due to the cocker spaniel puppy by their side - well they were by the red area, as well. I even asked for George on the C & C C stand "George who?" Well I don't actually know his other name.
And after all that I didn't meet one MHF member. Mind you I'm not surprised as it was like looking for the proverbial needle amongst a haystack of 5,000 units.
We had a great time tho & got a few bargains to boot.

It was you Caz.
The staff from the C&CC headquarters decided to man the stall so I was not needed. The message did get back to me that a woman was looking for me. but they forgot to ask who.

Yes George, twas me.
I also thought I'd buy a club badge or something whilst I was there but they didn't have any regalia with them - that was a bit of a missed opportunity I thought, they were signing up new members & couldn't even flog them a badge!

hey caz, did you go to the jive? and what rig were you in! We actually met the real Ben and Lizzie, cos we had already met them afore', we also got to meet there new addition, a lovely black bundle of fun and full of the joys of life!
No Raine we didn't go to the Jive as had to come back on Sunday for work & school. I had 4 kids with me so didn't bother with tickets for Hale & Pace either.
We were in our Bruce - elderly Elddis Autoquest 400D in cream with green writing & a green & white Omnistor with dark blue Outwell windbreak.
And the dog.
