Could I make a few further suggestions..

In addition to Denmark, add Norway, Sweden and Finland or perhaps just one umbrella entry for 'Scandinavia' Question

Don't forget Greece and Turkey, maybe as one entry as well Question

Is there going to be any housekeeping to sweep old posts into these new topics?

Excellent idea by the way.

pete

late edit.... and change Spain to Spain/Portugal Question

Bad Air Day Talk about a speedy response! Bad Air Day

Fantastic and many thanks.

There do seem to be some countries missing though. Why not use the country filter list in the camp site data base as a basis for a list of countries? I understand it is quite a list but it would at least be comprehensive.

For example, I have an interest in each of the separate Scandinavian countries, the Baltic states, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and Poland.

As above, can the existing entries be shuffled into their sets. It may be that some get copied and pasted into a couple of sub-sections?

Once again many thanks Nuke.

ok added some more sub sections in, the moderators will over time move the posts around, but bear in mind this forum section is one of the busier ones on MHF and it has 1000s of posts so this will take considerable time and effort on their behalf Wink

Peejay

"Don't forget Greece and Turkey, maybe as one entry as well "

Not sure this is politically acceptable to residents of Greece or Turkey? Wink

Geraldandannie

"Could be useful, especially for countries like Croatia and Hungary, less well travelled.

We'll see what Nuke thinks "

Well it seems Nuke doesn't like Croatia and Hungary then? Laughing I am sure I have read somewhere on this forum that Croatia is worth a visit. Wink Maybe Nuke knows something we don't know?

As you can hardly do one without the other two how about combining Estonia Latvia and Lithuania as 'Baltic States'.

Blogs feel out in the cold now without a good index DABs will be Lovin' it.

Early Bird? or should that be Late Owl? ... difficult to know.

Whilst some might only consider doing all three together, myself included on this occasion, re Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, or Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the other direction, others might only be going as far as say Lithuania from the Polish side.

More importantly, in my opinion, having also bourne in mind the work involved for the moderators going through old posts, my proposal was in order to be able to quickly get to the country of one's choice, rather than to have to wade through possibly extraneous material, however interesting. It would seem a shame therefore to only partially carry out the improvement suggested by continuing to bundle together certain countries. Why not leave it as North and South Europe, or East and West?

Again, from a personal point of view, I do not agree, for example, with the blanket sub-section Scandinavia and would much prefer individual countries so that I could research, for example the Lofotens, as quickly as possible, without going through all the posts for Denmark, Sweden, Finland etc. etc.

Just a point of view, as I am grateful to Nuke and the moderators for any improvements and would not like to be seen to be ungrateful for the changes already made.

Best wishes

I've always held the view that why should there have to be manual effort in sorting and filing any computer-held reference information, when the computer is far quicker at finding that information than any human. So my approach will always be stuff it in there somewhere, anywhere, and let the search function extract what you want at the time.

Works for me.
