lufc,
"THE person" sounds just like my person! He was diagnosed in 2001. Allthough he has always shown symptoms of MS, getting him to the Doc and diagnoed was a nightmare.
Not only are they affected physically, they are mentally too. My man was a work crazy manager, running a 10 million pound quarry and giveing in to the demands and restraints of MS was an imposible ask for him. We used to drive hours to a venue and because the car park was full up and he didn't have a blue badge(refused to apply)we would drive off! He couldn't walk to far, so we would leave. And still he refused to admit that he needed the blue badge.
You'll have to apply. I do everything now from filling in forms and doing the research. Apply for everything, even if you don't think you'll get it. A lot of the allowances are not means tested and you'll be suprised. Don't listen to much to the people on thw goverment helplines or let them put you off, they are there to save the goverment money, so push it and apply anyway even if they say you can't, we do and we get more than they have told us we would get
I'm afraid oH struggles a bit now, but he walks the dogs every day, he tinkers with the van, cuts the grass and all the other things people in good health do. He's got to pace himself and manage the MS and soon he'll be officially retired from the company on a pension as he just cannot do the job any more.
life goes on and they have to understand there are other things to life besides being the breadwinner, the boss, the man in charge.
Hope this helps and you can PM me if you want to chat more.
