Hi

Is there anyone who could help me please.I have just bought a motorhome ( my first) .It is a Ci Riviera 5.7,1995 .The base unit is a Fiat Ducatto with a 2.5TD engine. The Motorhome was imported from Germany three years ago and what little documentation available is also in German.
My question is can anyone tell me what the tyre pressures should be?Many thanks for all the useful advise that members post on this site it really is appriciated

Hi Clive and welcome to a friendly place.

You don't say what the tyres are that are fitted either in size,type or manufacturer.

Have you thought of e-mailing the tyre manufacturers with the information from the existing tyres and what vehicle it is on and with a request for advice.

I know that in the past Michelin have given advice to enquirers when asked.

I had a similar query and went back to the dealer since they knew weights of vehicle, etc.
But be prepared for a surprise - mine come out at 70!!!!! (against 34 for the car) that is a 3.6 tonne Hymer on a Ducato base. They do need to be much higher pressure than for cars. I have a psycological problem with 70 and set them to 69 which I also find easier to remember

I would check your tyre pressures with Michelin, the dealer told me that in my Autocruise the pressure should 70 but Autocruise recommend 60/65 for a 3400kg van. Also I have met people with vans over 3500kgs who were told to lower their tyre pressures.

Hi everyone,

Something is puzzling here, most tyres have the required pressures on the tyre wall, usually near the size markings, I have recently checked mine, and believe it or not, the tyre is marked with 80 psi (this figure is also in the handbook), this is on a Ducato Maxi chassis.

Just have a look at the tyre, read all that is on it, and you should find the right pressures.

By the way, my tyres were only at 60psi, that is how it came from the dealer, PDI by Fiat is a joke, there again I think 60psi is about right for a Ducato, but they did not consider the extra weight of the conversation.

Having put the pressure up to 80psi, I can tell you the ride and handling has improved.

Hi Rob, when I picked up the Bessie (same chassis as you) first thing I did was check the tyre pressures. Marquis had set them at 80 psi and I haven't altered them. I was thinking of dropping them to 70 psi as I think 80 psi is recommended if the van is fully loaded and my van isn't. Anyone any other ideas? I thought the ride and handling was first class but what really suprised me was how quite the Bessie was a slight rattle from the grill/oven but that was it almost as good as the car. Well chuffed. To recall a story, the tyre pressures are set on the tyres for the German and US markets, where they drive faster and usually overloaded.

Check with Michelin tech dept who are very helpfull and they will tell you the correct pressures for your tyres.
