Heading to France for the first time in a new motorhome in August. Plans to head from Paris, via Bordeaux to somewhere around Biarittz and then on to Nice. Can anyone suggest a campsite close to Biarittz or a nicer costal town we could visit?

Also any reminders for a first-timer travelleing to France much apprecaited!

Camping Ur-Onea at Bidart - a small suburb of Biarritz

Cap Breton was a nice spot - with lots of camp sites - and eating places
also Camping Biarritz just outside Biarritz near the beach and a bus service into the town or you can walk along the beach to town at low tide

Hallo csheard - agree with Twooks. We have been to France in a MH twice a year for nearly 20 years and spend 14 weeks there a year now. Call us wimps but we avoid Paris like the plague. Paris is for French drivers only. Only they can shrug at the stress, priority from the right on the Peripherique (spelling?) and visions of spending the rest of my life going round and round the ring road! Don't get me wrong - we love Paris on foot and try to go every other year by train or air.

Also - it's along way from Paris to the south west and then on to Nice. Great if you have lots of time. If the holiday is under 3 weeks, I think I would stick to either the south west or Cote d'Azur. Both are great and need time to explore their delights.

Have a great time where ever you decide to stop.

I agree with Twooks Capbreton is a good choice but also St Jean de Luz ( which is more convenient for a quick trip to San Sebastian which is Great )

There are loads of sites in both towns
