A bit of help required please. We have found, after 8 months of hunting, the van for us - Knaus sport ti 650, been to germany , visited dealerships, booked flights for october in anticipation of purchase ... but then .. an advert for a Weinsberg Imperiale S 650 MQ .. already imported .. for about the same price as the Knaus, and we've been to a local dealership in the UK who stocks both and there seems to be little / no difference. In fact, the salesperson couldn't even tell me differences when I asked the question. So, what am I missing? Is the Weinsberg a big mistake??
Secondly, regarding the mph / kph - do I legally have to get it changed? The person who has imported it has sorted out registering it / VAT etc but not lights or speedo... I am planning to use the van for a year full-time round europe starting from jan so it seems a bit of pain to have to get it done.
thanks everyone for your time

My advice is is, unless you have very good reasons, stick with the Knaus. I'm in Germany right now and there are plenty of them about. We're doing a year in Europe and I can tell you that you need a van for which there are dealers all over the Continent - hence the Hymer. I've never heard or seen one of these Weinsburg or whatever you call them. Sounds like a brand of German beer.
Our van is imported too and it's passed two MOT's with the existing speedo. Afraid you'll have to do the lights though.
Good luck
Ian

thanks for the info Ian. I have found some dealers in germany that sell weinsberg, and one in the UK, but as you rightly say not as many as Knaus. I have just found another thread regarding speedo & the purchase of a sticker from ebay passed DVLA inspection, so at £9.99 that sounds oK if we have to go down that route.

Weinsberg is owned by Knaus, and has been since the 90's.
