Many years ago a tv licence detector operative knocked at the door of a house.
''May I see your TV licence please sir'' The housholder then presented him with a photocopy of his licence.
''This is a copy of last years licence sir''
''I know but there are that many repeats on TV I may as well repeat my licence!''
If your memsaab like Frost,Morse etal try www.ddvideo.co.uk they have all these and more on video a dvd also bus, boat, aircraft and war documentaries as well as classic tv series. Nothing on moptorhomes though, maybe there is an opportuniy there.

Autostratus - I did read that it is foolhardy to buy cards of Ebay. The arguement was that many fraudsters send you a card that works then it is cancelled 24 hours later. I don't understand how these things work and also I don't know for sure whether this warning is warrented but I thought I would mention it just in case.

I understand that the main culprits are where a box and a functioning card for a paid package is being sold and of course brings a higher price than a box with a card for the basics.
The seller waits a short time then rings Sky to tell them 'the dog has chewed up the card, Sir'. The card is cancelled and a new one issued for use in the sellers new box.
In your original post, you say you have a Sky digibox and a viewing card. As long as it is the new one with the yellow house, you don't need anything else for the freeview channels.
You don't need any card at all for many of the freeview channels. Yes, you can point your dish at other satellites, esp. if you are looking for the dodgy German channels
However, my guess is that you don't really want more Spanish/French/German channels while touring, so the kit you have is all you need (with a suitable dish of course). eBay has plenty of dishes available, and for about £50 you can get a dish with tripod and 10m of cable.

Cheers PKCJ - I do have the blue card with a yellow house and I have since tried it without the card in at all and BBC1 works which is all I really need. However, when Sky disconnect me, I will then see what channels I get with the card and without the card.
As regards the aerial I need, would the dish I have on the house wall suffice and just add a tripod and use existing cable or will I need a bigger dish in North Spain for example.
I did read somewhere that you can make a tripod by buying a whirly washing line thingy from Homebase and chop some length off the arms and take off the washing line, turn it upside down and you have a tripod.
I'd like to think Murdock will be in tears when I cancel but somehow I doubt it.

I cannot add much to the article regarding the ability to receive programs as far south as Spain etc. but I can tell you that I cancelled my sky package about 1 month ago. I lost all of the rubbish but kept all BBC channels, plus ITV 1 and Channels 4 and 5. The only one of the freeview style channels I lost was ITV 2. Having never watched it anyway, no loss.
This year I will be taking my Sky box plus card and suitable dish to France. Before doing so I will have to buy a dish. I don't fancy the acrobatics needed to remove the one from the house. I like the look of the Camos 336VH because of it's shape being easy to store or alternatively the Multimo 40cm dish. At lease with satellite the good lady would be happy with Corrie and Eastenders and leave me to get on with more important matters like eating and drinking.

When you do that John - cud you send me links and details of the setup of the dish so I can emulate it. I don't know what size dish I have on the wall but I can easily get at it if i stand on the wifes shoulders. She's 7.5 stone and I am 17.5 stone so I don't envisage any problems.
