Hi all,

We are recently back from our first trip sur le continent.After three weeks following LE TOUR DE FRANCE and a general mow around Germany, Switzerland,Luxemburg and Belgium,we found that the only problem we faced was parking.Consequentially we decided that two wheeled motorised transport is needed.

1.find a scooter -done
2.organise insurance.--this is the problem

I contacted my motorhome insurer(Comfort)to see if they could extend my policy to include a scooter.In short- no.It would require its own policy.Now the bad news, he proceeded to tell me that most insurers will not touch scooters or motorbikes carried by a motorhomes with a bargepole if they knew.I asked what if they didnt know, response was the policy would be invalidated.Apparently they have had numerous claims from owners when they have broken free,sometimes complete with carrier ,as such not many insurers will touch them.He offered me one insurance company Norwich Union which wanted £290 instead of approx £85 that I had been quoted online.

So to all you motorcycle carriers -check your policy carefully!
