Last night after closing down my desk top which took a lot longer than normal i opened it this morning to find it had crashed and would not boot up.
I forced it to boot using the Q button and disc one of the recovery disc's but it will not let me make a full recovery as i have lost the drivers for the cd/dvd, no disc's will run and so i cannot do a full recovery.
Most of my other programmes are running normally expect system restore, and i get a runtime error occurring.
I have done a full system scan and the only thing showing up is the drivers for cd/dvd are not present, i run windows XP.
Can you start up in safe mode and then do a system restore to an earlier date.
I would then run a good antivus program in case you have picked up an internet virus. Maybe you have been on unusual sites recently and your sytem has been interogated
Press f8 on start up, go for safe mode and then do a system restore - in programmes - Accesories - system tools - to an earlier date. The system should have several restore points.
