There is a strap sold by Amazing Outdoors which fits between the two front doors of the cab and stops the cab doors being opened from the outside.

There were a couple of traders selling these at Malvern last weekend, not sure who they were though.

I use window locks on all of my doors Screwfix Frame guard 47802-86 £8.99 ea I have colour matche them.

I also modified a "Krooklock" to fit through the door handles but have never used it because it takes to long to remove.

We bought a couple of long plastic covered steel security locks like bicycle locks but longer from Homebase they lock together are reach between the two cab doors.just a turn of the key to open them.we just use a strap on the habitation door at night easily clicks open if we needed to get out quick.

I like the patio door locks idea used by Melly, but how do you make the habitation door secure ? Normally when leaving my van (in a car park for instance) I lock the habitation door from the inside and turn the clips that seal the door, then exit via the cab doors. Surely the habitation would be the easiest to break in through if it was only locked using the caravan style key lock only.

Very Happy
Hi there, for the habitation door picked up a brilliant lock at Lincoln show. You lock from the outside, and make the habitation door burglarproof, but you can then safely lock yourself in at night, and of course let yourself out in the case of an emergency :

I also got a simple plastic covered steel rope with a holding/locking device in the centre to prevent cab doors from being forced open, but can't remember what it's called.

saluti,

I am not so much concerned about someone breaking into the locked (existing locks) van when it is occupied, as I would think this would be highly unlikely.
What is much more likely is the opportunist break in when the van is unoccupied.

If chaining the drivers/passengers doors to prevent entry, would it not be prudent to allow enough slack on the chain for the door to open far enough to set off the alarm? At least you would be aware of attempted entry if you set the alarm before retiring for the night.

would a ratchet strap do the same job?
has no locks but prevents the door opening unless they break a window

Good Evening All

I too sometimes use the long wire with spliced eyes and padlock( a DIY job)for the cab doors.

Have any panel van conversion folk got brilliantly efficient means of similarly securing the side sliding door and also the 2 rear doors?
