Hi Terry

I am using the T mobile connection now at the south coast and it works well but in order to keep the phone free for call I picked up an unlocked data card from ebay for £30.

Tried it a couple of times in France and again it worked well but the costs are prohibitive at about £7.50 per megabyte although this may have changed with the overseas reductions that came in after the school holidays had endedd.

Ed

But your phone will work on a call at the same time as being used for data. I've used mine on that basis for the last two weeks when i was away in Scotland.

Dougie

I did not know that. Thanks.

I have the data card slotted in and the mobile in the hands free running on my normal orange number

Regards

Ed

After losing/having mobile phone stolen in Spain(long boring story) went out and bought PAYG phone -t mobile and their web and walk usb dongle type whotsit/thingymagig. Cost to phone taken from what I pre-pay( not used a lot but there if Dad gets poorly again) usb thingy £29.00 a month, (BUT! £4.00 a month refunded every six months) no call to ISP costs so less than 84 pence per day, or half the cost of a coffee in most places!
Mobile phone free all the time and dongley thing with laptop at all times with no worries about phone battery charge. Still don't like the £7.50 per MB if outside UK or it seems good old Deutschland, who are very frugal as a nation, but not as much as the Dutch. (From experience!)

Thanks to you all.It would be my intention to use this phone just for internat access. Hopefully it will work ok in UK. So far as abroad is concerned may think about the "dongley thing(? Laughing ) or just use hotspots or sites
