Hmmmmm. Clever and naughty way of answering Andy.

I will not enter a discussion with a subject body encompassing hidden meanings of "my system is better than your system" or "Oh we have done that years ago"

This is a forum for facts.

Fact: My first post on this thread was for panda54. He asked if anyone had experience of the R4. It annoyed me that traders were posting but not answering his original question. I have lots of R4 experience and I replied.

Fact: My second post was a 'shared' reply for the motorhomers whom kindly emailed me regarding the R4, Internet amongst other things. It was easier for me (this time) to reply to the forum rather than write individual emails. I pride myself on writing personal emails to all who reply but on this occasion (a very busy couple of weeks) I had no alternative but post on here. I apologize for that.

I repeat, I cannot comment on the Camos or the Alden for that matter because I don't have experience of them and also that they do not concern me. I do not rubbish competitors products to sell more of my own. What is important to me are my customers. And the posts were for them, not for my competitors.

Fact: I have experience with the R4/R5 and yes I have had to modify it for Spain use and the Internet.

My customers have been asking me for a decent satellite system with Internet access for best part of a year. I have listened to them and provided what I consider to be the best at an affordable price. If you think other systems are better, then good for you.

Your quote "Maybe you should check the instructions......" Please don't mock me sir. Please show more respect.
After reading your paragraph I understand they're different systems, different techniques but have the same action in mind. i.e. controlling a Digibox from home.

Jamie.

Sorry if you thought I was mocking Jamie: I was actually trying to be helpful and also to find out more about this special system which you have developed.

Concerning accessing your digibox via the Internet, which system are you using? I'm using Slingbox.

You're right about the facts bit. That's all I'm interested in too. So, with respect, how about actually answering my questions?

An observation:

Why is it that the people who make a big fuss about only being interested in "the facts" seem to be so reluctant to actually come up with any?

Beats me.

I know what you mean Andy. Another thread on the forum a couple of days ago, a member added a positive post in a thread complaining about a Company and got all upset when no one else agreed. She suggested that people were abusing the system by questioning facts made by a company in the ‘company reports’ section! She went on to suggest that, the people who were asking for clarification of statements made, may face legal action for rude, offensive and personal remarks.

When asked by Nuke and another poster to give examples of anything rude, personal or offensive she got very defensive and said that she had said all that she had to say on the subject and refused to elaborate.

Frankly, I know what I, and the majority or readers think, when people throw a few smart remarks into a thread and then sulk and slink into the ether, when asked for their remarks to be validated or substantiated

Just my opinion

I agree

Smart remarks, that are often have no basis in truth, do nothing to enhance the value of a forum. Quite often, as can be seen from many threads in many forums, comments, posts, remarks whatever can be wrongly interpreted and often end up in becoming nothing more than mud slinging, and in some cases insulting and libelous.

However, there is also the opportunity to put "the record straight", which has to be praised.

I prefer to, if I have an issue with a competitor, talk directly with them, rather than do it in a open forum. But I will clarify things in public if I believe the facts have been distorted to suit the aim of the writer.

Smart remarks!! Not big, Not clever!!!!

Forums!! Independant and unbiased!!!!

Kind Regards

That's a bit tricky - Jamie has run out of free posts, and needs to subscribe (all of £10) to be able to continue contributing.

lol I hope that's not a poke at MHF, the forum is completely independant, if any advertiser on the site got negative comments in the forums then they would be expected (like anyone else) to post their responses, I have even had to do the same many times for my own accessory business Wink

If i was biased / MHF biased then these comments would be withdrawn from the forums like oh so many other sites do when pressurized.

I have lost track of the number of legal threats I have undergone running MHF Wink

Nuke,

I believe the reason this forum is successful is because freedom of speech and reasoned and constructive arguments are at its core.

The people in the forums are the ones that determine independence and unbiased(ness)!!

Moderators and Admin should be congratulated for diligence in maintaining a balance between discussion and mudslinging.

Well done!
