Hi All
I did the D,Dorf show this year. My conclusions yes it is huge but unless you are looking for a new motor home, it is very disappointing, yes they do have nearly every model on this planet there including some at £1M. Oh boy. The accessory side was rubbish there is more choice at the shows in the country.
I wonder was I the only one that brought some cheese outside hall 5, to get home and find it was rock hard under the wax coating?
The show left me with the same feeling as driving from Calais to North Cape. I'm glad I done it but I won't bother again.

Kind regards Shocked

We went to the show as we are looking for a new motorhome, and we really loved it. The dealers were very cooperative, even though there was a bit of a language issue. We were on the Rapido stand for about 4 hours, going backwards and forwards looking at 2 vans but never felt under any pressure.
We were able to see all the models available, and there was plenty of room to look all around as the vans were not all crammed together as they are over here. There were, I believe, 49 different Hymers on display, they had one hall all to themselves.
We met some good contacts, all willing to sort out the paperwork, VAT etc. for selling a motorhome to the UK, and offered good deals and packages, and not just for the show.
For us it was well worth the trip.

Richard

Isn't it funny how we all see things differently.

Perhaps if you are not seriously looking you do see it in a different light.

Dave did ask me to write a review of the show, so perhaps this isn't the place to do it, but we stayed with friends for 10 days after the show and only got back at the weekend, and I have been trying to sort out a computer laptop problem since then which has rather taken more of my time than I would have liked.

The show is huge, I think some 18 halls in all, all very busy but with lots of space around each motorhome, that we only waited a few times outside in a queue to see inside some of the newer models...much better than any show in the UK.

As to accessories, we thought that there was a very good selection, and we went to Hall 13 which was really for the dealers, but found everyone on them without question, extremely helptul when asked specirfic questions, and we were always pointed to Hall 5 I think it was where the accessories were able to be sold.

We did purchase several things there as well, and all at excellent prices, so we were happy.

I think if you were just going for a look, then you would not need so much time looking...

Carol

I will try and do that review over the next few days, I have some photos of the various motorhomes we were looking at, but haven't even had time to see how well they came out.

I have brought back brochures and will be passing them onto Dave to keep with all the others he has had from me over the years, so his collection will be growing yet more. Members who need some specific, a layout or detail may find he could help you out....

Hi. Have been down in the South of France since the show and only got back at the weekend, Must agree with Carol, we really enjoyed the show, Cannot understand why Richard was so disappointed. The only thing that diappointed us was that in the large "tourism" hall I think every European country and all their various departments had a display trying to attract people to visit, with one noticeable exception, England was not represented, at least i didn't see their stand if the were.
I have attached a couple of photos.
Have kept the post short as Jock of Jock and Rita has already written an excellent post on the show.
Cheers Sid

Good morning Carol & Sid

What you read was my overall view, I should have said was disappointed from the accessory side. For such a calibre show I did expect more. There are more accessories at say Peterborough and York.

We spent 4 days at the show looking at all the vans, taking on-board all the new idea's layouts and tips, fantastic, but we where not in the market for a new van.

Unless I was looking for a new MH I wouldn't go again, yes it is one of those things you must do, a bit like going from Calais to North Cape via all the bridges. But you only do that once.

Kind regards

Hi,

being a regular visitor to the Düsseldorf show since 2003, I must sadly admit that I have observed a steady decline on the accessory side over the years. This year this decline has lead to the accessories move from hall 14 into (significantly smaller) hall 5. And besides that a large part of hall 5 has been taken over by some large franchises, and the "spooky corner" where you can buy "fuel-saving magnets" and other mumbo-jumbo.

So yes, I have been disappointed, too. And, unless I should be looking for a new van then, I am not sure whether I will go to Düsseldorf next year again.

Best Regards,
Gerhard
