Very Reluctantly I am posting my experience with Danum. Picked up my new Tribute Unfortunately I did not notice on handover a dent and 2 or 3 scratches up near the roof line, mainly because you have plenty of other stuff going on at that time and there was un-polished wax over them. I reported the damage the next morning after I had polished off the wax and they became visible. They originally told me no way were they on the van when I collected it but i when I pointed out the scratches actually ran under the decorative strip they accepted it. To cut a long story short. I took the van in for repairs as well as £2k worth of air con but when I picked it up the dent had not been fixed but they had managed to "polish out" the scratches. They again said the dent was not on the van on handover and thats that. Additionally there is some very poor repairs /respraying on the same panel and even masking tape still stuck to a seam so something has happened to the van before I got it. When I asked if this could be put right I was told that "at the end of the day it's only a delivery van, they all have poor paint or body work, you can not expect anything else" I was gob smacked as were two other people who overheard the conversation. I do expect more from a vehicle I have just spent £32000 on. Over the next 3 years the warranty services will cost around £1500 and I will be buying a further £2000 worth of kit. I feel very reluctant to give the business to Danum. Can anyone recommend another Trigano Authorised Service Agent in Yorkshire Please?

Not too surprised with your experience at Danum Trubute_650. I nearly purchased a new Tribute 550 from these people but on my second visit found the salesman very abrasive, which was odd as I thought I had made a friend on my first and he could not do enough for me.

I was trying to pin him down on delivery dates as there were people complaining on this forum around June time that they had been waiting months past their deadlines. I think he thought I had already ordered one and was chasing it up, anyway I think I got to see his "post order" spots! and I backed off sharply and went to Barons. They seem ok but only do the MH service so the Fiat bit needs to be done at the Fiat Commercial dealer.

Good Luck sorting your Tribute!

"They again said the dent was not on the van on handover and thats that"

At the end of the day it's your word against theirs and the MH manufactures do not seem to care as long as the agents are selling, they will side with the agent or not bother to do anything as in CI's case with me.

I picked up my 05 Tribute after a service and found a dent in the back door, they denied doing it and even after contacting CI, citizens advice and legal advice it all boiled down to their word against mine. You have to watch you do not spend more in fees chasing them than it would cost to get it fixed !!

I would recommend Richard Baldwin but thats just my view.

When I had my Tribute I found a dent in one of the rear doors and we found it had been caused by people when closing the rear door pushing on the panel to close it properly.Left door as you look from the rear.

Was really surprised to read the negative comments regarding Danum here. When we bought our second hand 2006 Tribute a couple of months back, they were excellent. If anyone is interested, I have previously posted our experience here:

I found Danum quite refreshing in that you don't get the usual salesperson flannel, they were very straight talking and down to earth. We noted a few bits and bobs that needed sorting prior to our handover, and they sorted everything, without exception.

In terms of aftersales, the gas regulator packed up a few days after picking up the van. Danum told us to come in at our convenience and fixed it there and then while we waited. Their attitude was very positive.

We have no connection with Danum, just very satisfied customers.

maddie mentioned that Danum get their vehicles serviced by Stoneacre in Doncaster. Danum carry out any work relating to the conversaion of the vehicle, whereas the base vehicle servicing or anything not specifically relating to the conversion is done at Stoneacre Fiat Commercial Vehicles by Fiat technicians.

Hi Stimpy, I am glad you have had a good experience with Danum, I can only say as I find and I was not impressed.

I noticed you reported that "We noted a few bits and bobs that needed sorting prior to our handover, and they sorted everything, without exception."
I wonder why they had not done something about those problems before trying to sell the tribute and had left them for you to notice? Well done for spotting them ! Pity poor old Tribute_650 did not spot his problems before handover, they can not blame you then! Quick fixes are normally not a problem it's anything that may threaten the profit margin that can be rejected. ( I spent 8 years in the motor trade working for a main dealer and have seen this happen, retired now Laughing )

Hi I have only just registered today so I hope I am not speaking out of turn.
I think this is what you are getting at Sue_ann, a procedure in the motor trade but I am not saying this is what Danum do only that I have come across this as a past trader

example :
You take a part exchange from punter A at trade price and knock off say a further £2500 ( main dealer cost of repairs) for genuine repairs that are needed.

As the vehicle is still under warrantee you wait until you have sold it to punter B and agree to fix the faults. You know you can claim these repairs back under the manufacturers warrantee now the vehicle is privately owned again, even better if you are an authorised service centre.

You have charged Punter B full retail price so you have made a healthy profit but you have also made an additional £5000 minus any parts (£2500 from the seller and £2500 from the manufacturer who has paid you for the warrantee repairs)

The problem comes with New vehicles, you often only get 48 hours from delivery to claim any bodywork faults from the manufacturer. If this window is missed then the dealer will need to stand the costs, this is when you get problems Shocked

Again I must stress I am not saying this is what I think Danum have done

Thanks georgie_boy that seems to add up.

When I originally rang Danum to report the faults my salesman had taken a few days off so I told their receptionist who got the other salesman to ring me back. After the 3rd degree he said to bring the Tribute in. I asked if I should take it in there and then but he said no fetch it when I took it for the air con to be fitted.

That booking got delayed by a couple of weeks as they had staff off. When it eventually went in and I showed my salesman the problem he said "why did you not let me know" I told him the above sequence of events and he said that he was not there at the time so he did not know anything.

It looks like they did not report to Trigano so it was down to them to sort hence the tac they took, "It was not there when the van left here" knowing full well it could not be proved either way once the associated scratches that ran under the Tribute logo were polished out Evil or Very Mad

was at Danum this summer as I am thinking of retiring my old faithful camper and getting something more comfy.

We were in the yard looking at a coachbuilt when I saw a commotion between a salesman and a customer. The chap had his wife in a wheelchair and the salesman was obviously getting very excited over something and slammed the side door of the panel van they were stood next to that hard he knocked the chap flying backwards. The salesman then was waving his hands about and chanting at this poor couple. Another customer appeared and stood between the salesman and the lady in the wheelchair then one of the mechanics went to intervene and the salesman walked off.

I went to check the couple were ok and they were obviously very shaken and upset. The lady in the wheelchair said that they had come to pick up their new Motorhome and there was still problems that had not been fixed and some poor paintwork which I could see. Danum apparently would not fix the outstanding problems so her husband had refused to take the van back at which point the salesman had blown his top.

I can tell you that I will not be getting my replacement van from these people. Shocked
