I bought a "Three" mobile (USB) internet dongle (its a mobile phone but no key board or screen!)

I opted for the 1gb per month at £10 a month. Reception is good. I dont download loads of pictures or sounds, just wanted to be on the 'net. Emails, this forum, bit of ebay etc. At the moment my usage means that 1gb is going to equate to about 100hours a month. Totally happy!

Note: you cant open an email address.... stuck with hotmail or something like that (warning hotmail attaches spam = complaint about hotmail)

Note: you can send and recieve txts

Note: you can get voicemails sent to you but cant pick them up unless you go to a normal phone - this SHOULD be blanked in my opinion.

Note: help centre = foriegn, very helpful, but dont understand you dont have a phone! talk to quick and english not very good.

Overall rating... Brill! cheapest way to get on the net sensibly.

This system is certainly being given the thumbs up, however, I would be interested in hearing how fast it is, how it works, and what the roaming costs are from Europe?

You can't use it in Europe. There is already a subject on this posted by me. Try a search!

You can use your existing email addresses as if your were on broadband. What's the problem?

This is the confusing part. I contacted 3 and they advised that it works where European countries have a 3 network. In countries where they do not have 3, then it reverts to normal mobile speeds. They also said that roaming charges apply.

From what you are saying, this info would appear to be incorrect.

I agree it is confusing.
Have a look on their site for overseas coverage.

I have the nokia 6120 phone on the same internet system and I can receive emails through my normal tiscali email address but to send or reply I have had to set the laptop up to use 3 mails smtp settings. I have been in touch with the three tech support who just said I couldn't use the 3mail system on a computer as a normal mail system

So as it currently stands unless someone can enlighten me to the settings you can email as normal but with a different smtp set up to reply or send

yes, Icould use my broadband email addr if I had one! We are full time in the MH so limited to what we can get thru the 3 connection. I use hotmail generally but it gets rejected from some sites because of the spam microsoft appear to stick on the messages!

I joined this site through my work email but dont really want to mix work and home.

I thought I would be able to open a 3 email account and get round the problem above, but it appears you can only have 3 email from a mobile phone, not a mobile modem from 3!

You could always get an email address from the likes of bluebottle, fastmail or fasthosts. They have free or very low cost services which are ad free, so don't get caught up in spam filters. Worth a trial to see if it works for you.
