Hi

Last week I mentioned I had heard there were some pretty special deals about to hit us from 3, especially on the payg side.

See

and it would appear that on payg, in other words without contract for £25 you get 500 minutes anytime, cross network and to this for just £2.50 add on you can get a weeks internet access, obviously you would need a compatible phone.

This would be ideal for someone who does not use a phone a lot as the voice minutes have no expiry date and you can just add on the internet when you are away.

As far as motorhomers are concerned you read this first on MHF Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks, Stew, one to watch.

I couldn't see any small print for data volume limits. I see the usual £2.50 monthly internet add-on only has a 10MB limit, so the offer one might be low too?

Modem restriction I'm less bothered about. I find I can do a lot on just the phone.

Not being able to have broadband internet connection at home [too far from telephone exchange]I have been looking for a permanent/mobile broadband connection. I went into an o2 shop last week and enquired what was on offer in answer to my problem.

For £30 per month I could have broadband using a 3G phone or data card. This system will work on any laptop/desktop computer providing the PC Suite is loaded first. Was a bit more than I wanted to pay so I 'hummed and rrrrd' then I was offered a Nokia N95 phone free with a years internet contract - but don't going rushing down to the o2 shops for the same offer because it was a promotion as I was the first customer to sign up to the deal Laughing Just looked on ebay the Nokia N95 are fetching approx £200 - £250. Laughing do I sell or don't I................................ Wink

Edited to add there is a download limit of 3.5gb per month Smile

Hi Joyce

How much is the contract per month and how many minutes does it give you.

3.5gb is quite a bit and it should be okay but keep an eye on it. O2 are one of the companies that quotes so many pence per extra megabyte over your quota. Maybe they have dropped that now but if you are using it as your main internet supplier it is worth taking note of.

In March this year I checked my useage and I had downloaded over 6 gigs. There are over 1000 megs per gig and at the time I think O2 were charging an extra £2 per meg. In my case the extra bill would have amounted to over £2000.

To be fair I think 3 have these extra charges as well, I use T Mobile who do not

Hi Stew

The internet access is only by data card/sim so haven't minutes or texts included. Wasn't too concerned as I already have two mobile phones for business purposes.

The useage side seems ok up to now - still under 1gb data used so 3.5gb per month £30 for mobile internet appears to be suiting my needs.

Joyce

I'd stay away for perhaps another few months before going mobile broadband! Just let them get a better coverage before jumping in as it would still be a very new service!

Hi All,

We have been touring Italy for the past couple of months and have been impressed with Three network coverage. Friends who live over here have got for me a payg sim on the "Navigar 3" tariff from Three Italy website

I get 50 Meg of data A DAY for 9 euros a month!! It uses on a normal 3G phone as a modem and most areas its possible to use the "Turbo" speed of 10 times normal 3G speed.....its almost as good as broadband!

It will be a shock to loose this when we move on from Italy... It shows you what a poor deal we have back in the UK when you compare the prices and service that are available in the rest of Europe.

All this information about European PAYG networks is available at....
