Our beloved Tom tom gave up at the Slovenia boarder and only indicated that here be dragons. We also have a Blaupunkt Lucca edition GPS that came with a disk. It also gave up at the border but one of the maps on the disk is called "eastern europe". Does anyone know what countries it covers?
If you are thinking of buying a GPS you might like to know that Blaupunkt unlike Tom Tom do not allow you to put on your own POIs - they are included in the map file and not alterable. Also it does not seem to navigate across country borders. (e.g. Paris to Rome)
