We are all being taken for a ride..... why do you pay it? Even a site is cheaper at that time of year.

Hi Carol , I totally agree with your post.. but the simple answer is that they charge £20 because they can and there are plenty of takers..

As a previous poster pointed out the CC club isn't run 'by and for' it's members, it's a business, when did you last see the Duke on a cl Rolling Eyes

I would prefer to stay OFFICIALLY on the car park at the NEC without cost, or a maximum of £5 a night .......and hence the question, do others think that £20 is too much...a sort of normal rip off Britain... well I think so..
As per above Carol the Poll does not ask this but let me say if it did I have no doubt the vote would be almost 100% in favour of your suggestion perhaps this forum with 18000 member could consider suggesting this for next year.

We have paid £20 to stay on the CC site overnight on Thursday night. We want to leave home early on Thursday morning, spend all day at the show, stay over Thursday night, then we have to go on to Wales on Friday. So we thought it would be worth £20 to park the van, leave it safe and secure all day, nip back for a meal, then have a bit of entertainment Thursday evening and away we go early Friday morning! Doesn't that sound like a good plan? And I am one of those who is happy to pay for such facilities.

However, when we got the tickets, it states "Pitches will be available from 1.00 pm on the day of arrival"! So, when we get there on Thursday morning, we have to park in the main car parks while we go to the show, then at some point have to go back and get the van, then move it round to the CC car park. I suppose it is obvious when you think about it, if the pitches are full, then we have to allow time for others to leave before we can move onto the site. But had I thought about it, I wouldn't have bothered to book.

What I would like to see is the caravan Club for members only that would make a difference.

Unbook. They won't mind so long as it's not absolutely at the last minute.

What annoys them, and quite rightly so, is those who don't turn up and fail to let them know in advance. (Accidents or sudden medical problems etc. apart of course.)

Cheers

Dave

we had exactly the same quandry last year; we turned up at about 10:00am at the site and got on no problem. doesn't mean to say that there'll be space to get on when you arrive, but it's worth a try. Some people will be leaving early, so should be safe; if you can't get on, then you'll have to do the loop around as you said.

Grumpyman - I totally agree.

Sanatogen - Ah, but this time we had to pay up front, not refundable. Understandable in the circumstances I think.

Bognormike - Yes, we'll give it a go and let you know how we get on. Same scenario applies for those arriving the night before to go to the show the following day, they have to be off the site by 11.00 am. So they have to get up and move the van before they can go to the show. Only way round it seems to be to book for two nights!

I can see where various points of view are coming from and can agree that it is quite expensive, however as this is our first m/h show and we are still very wet behind the ears in most things m/h! we paid for two nights ( I don't sleep much and Sue can sleep through the roughest 100 miles of road in Spain!) so planes 'n' trains won't matter. if it turns out to be less than a good experience then we will do it differently next time, if we do do it again. If they want repeat business they will provide a good service, if not then..... they will have to rely on greenhorns like us Laughing
