We spotted a Burstner i681 at the Shepton show this year & really liked the look of it. Upon enquiring, we discovered that this layout was now discontinued & only a secondhand one could now be purchased. A couple of weeks later(we were in Scotland for the month in MH) my wife phoned around the dealers to register our interest in a secondhand i681.
When she rang Lazydays, the very helpful salesman informed her that they had just got one in. A 2007 model with only 800 miles on the clock & immaculate inside. The van had an immobiliser problem that was being sorted in the workshop. The price they wanted was pretty good & they offered us a good trade in price on our Autostratus EK SE. We were told there was interest in the van but for a £1000 deposit they would hold it for us for a month & refund the deposit if we didn't like it when we viewed it. We paid the deposit & advised them we would come to see it on 8/10/07 when we had finished our work in Scotland giving them over three weeks to repair the immobiliser.
Rang them on the Friday before 8/10 to confirm the visit. Started driving down from Dumfries on the 8th. Phone call...the immobilser was still faulty( three weeks after we initially phoned) but would be fixed by tommorrow. We agreed to hole up at CC site overnight in Cumbria. Left early on Tues..another call....van still not fixed. We drove home to Wilts to await developments.
Called them later in week. They agreed to send us some pics by email....pics never turned up(various excuses). We agreed that we would travel up Mon 15/10 to view the van & complete the deal if we liked it. Numerous calls to find out what tax was left on van. Not many calls returned...It was hard work but we persevered in the hope of a good deal.
I completely emptied our van & cleaned it etc (yep...probably a bit foolhardy!! I know). Got a building society cheque for the balance. Transferred insurance. We drove up on Mon arrived mid-morning. There was still a problem with the immobiliser. We sat in our van for a couple of hours...knock at door...van would not be repaired in time for today...put us in local hotel with bar tab for the night( a couple of beers made me feel better but the deal look worse .) Guaranteed us that van would be available by midday Tues.
I was getting tired of it by now, but we decided to give them one more chance. Drove in this morning, met Lester the boss. Few calls later & no chance of the van being repaired today..still a major problem with the immobiliser.
In total we have lost four days income from work & tankfull of fuel(wilts to Shropshire & back). Still haven't seen so much as a pic of van...not even sure if it really exists . CC company sorting my deposit refund & trip to bank to recredit cheque.
The only good thing to come out of this:
The elddis is the cleanest it's been in years
I spose you've got to laugh really! At the end of the day, no one died!!!

Well according to the home page of their website (not sure how old it is, Mr Stacey no longer has anything to do with the retail side of the business but is concentrating on wholesale importing!!!
If I recall correctly I think it was Lazydays who used to run ads on Autotrader and in the mags with no snail or email address or phone no. When I found their website via Google and emailed them, politely pointing out that they were wasting their advertising budget, I got a load of abuse in response and the comment that 'everybody knows where we are'.
In another twist of fate we were interested in buying a house that turned out to be just down a lane from Lazydays. IVO the comments on here and other places we decided to look elsewhere (and it looked a nice little house as well).

I think he was filling in today as all their other guys were gone to the NEC to try interesting the masses in their vans Maybe they should have tried a bit harder to sell to an already interested customer?(no longer )

They were very reluctant to return my calls. Gave me false promises of delivery dates so my balance cheque was with them months before necessary. I had another issue with them which resulted in 2 letters to the MD and there was no reply at all. I would have hoped that they might have improved by now.
