Has anyone changed the front speakers in their Ducato, the rears are good quality but since upgrading to a sony mp3/cd changer thingy, the front speakers really show themselves for what they are (micky mouse). Problem is they are oval shaped and in order to get 5" round ones in there will have to be some serious chopping out of the plastic. Anyone know of any decent oval speakers ? |

We haven't got a Ducato but have upgraded the rear ones in our Ford A/S Duetto twice. The originals were a non-symetrical oval shape. Both times have been to round speakers and the second time involved some recovering of the speaker housing not that anyone would notice. The first time we clipped the original plastic covers.
They are alot better but took a little bit longer than we would have liked.

My base is a Peugeot, not sure if speakers are same size, I'm pretty sure that adapter plates are availabe to go between the speaker and grille, is there nothing in the FAQ's on the Kenwood site, if not nip down to your local car audio shop, maybe they have them.
Failing that give Kenwood a call tomorrow, staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

I don't know which model Ducato you have, but if it is the latest one, you can replace the upper front door pockets for speaker grilles and fit speakers behind. The grilles cost £2.93 + VAT each from Fiat, and I fitted some 165mm Pioneer speakers in. You need to cut out the hole in the panel, but it is pre scribed ready. The wiring is already in the door as well, so an easy and worthwhile upgrade. If you have a bigger budget, then you can put midrange speakers in the doors, and tweeters in the dash in place of the originals.

Just fitted two JLB 6x4 120 watt speakers, they fit straight into my panels (2002 Ducato old shape) with the aid of spacers. They were £49 from halfords and the transformation is well worth it, no more tinny sound and much clearer at higher volumes. Bring on Led Zep!!!!! |
