hi all , i have astra 2 connect at my place in france, when i go away in the van to spain or italy i take the modem and a 10 euro lidls 80 cm dish and use it everywhere. it takes me 10 minutes to set up and i can use voip very clearly so that alone saves a fortune on mobile roaming charges. the system here in france costs about €400 euros and i pay €39 a month for 1mb download speed. the provider in the uk is beyonddsl. all the best sean

when wildcamping i use my oyster to find astra 3 23.5 (it will do this automatically) then when its locked on i take the tv lnb off and put the internet one on and away you go.

I have a netmaster installed (now superceded by the Alden Sat Net) and it does what it says on the tin so to speak, internet access when required, TV if that is your forte

Have you got any specific questions on either the netmaster or the new Sat Net ?

Hi Seanoo
where did you get the system and could you tell me more about it?
400euro sounds excellent and just what i am looking for!!
There are system for £2000-£3000 and more which would make a nasty hole in my budget, i am heading off in my self build for a year in a couple of months and i need the internet but i dont really want to have to find mcDos etc... everyday

hi mrgadget, i bought my hardware from a guy second hand and just contacted the internet provider to set up a contract. your best bet is to contact beyonddsl and find out first hand about costs. google asta2connect . i think this system would suit what you are trying to achieve . all the best sean
 Thank you Sean

Sean, this is very interesting, I wish I had known about it when we met.

Is there any chance, when you have time, of doing a bit of an idiots guide telling us what we need, where to get it and exactly how to do it. I am sure many of us would be very grateful, Alan.

It appears that JQL has let his subscription lapse, but I know he did buy the alden netmaster. As far as I know, there were no negative issues with it.

If your only internet requirement is to email friends, I'd think about using McDonald's WiFi - it's free, and you can usually use it from the car park.

Thanks Gerald - TBH the McDonalds car park is about as close as I ever want to get to a McD's Laughing and even then I would be scarred stiff I might catch something incurable Laughing
