Hi All

Im currently in the Dordogne and loving it! The sun is shining and the beer is cold.

I have this super dupa wifi antenna which I am going to review on here once I have fully tested it. I keep picking up loads of Neuf or SFR hotspots but you have to be a customer to log on.

This is probably a bit cheeky and against the rules but does anyone have any logon details for either of these providers? Perhaps you live in France and have access to one or the other. Im picking them up with the RepeatIT wifi antenna sometimes from a mile or so away but its so frustrating as I cant logon.

It would be really useful if I could as Im self employed and it would enable me to check emails (and use MHF!).

If anyone wants to share their logon details with me via a PM I would be eternally grateful.

The antenna is really good and picks up signals from a good distance. Im on a campsite right now and a good distance from the hotel where the free wifi is located and I have 5 bars. Zero without the antenna.

Cheers
Barry

Hi Barry,

I've got a SFR Clé Internet 3G+ dongle on a PAYG basis, the're €29 each in the SFR shop and €16 for two weeks access.

Can't give you my password and access code as I'm in France next week myself.

Cater_racer, can you tell us a bit more, how was coverage, where did you use it. That is the best deal I have seen for access in France, we found 3G coverage very poor outside towns and cities, Alan.

Hi Alan,

I use it all over the place. Normally just picking up emails and telebanking etc.

I like to get the crossword off the telegraph webiste each day, so simple low/ medium usage. I don't download TV or radio, I've got a Camos for that.

I find coverage good apart from the wild beyond. SFR is their equivent of Vodaphone, so it usually works ok.

Thanks

That sounds ok but thats using a dongle not wifi. How many megabytes or time do you get for 16 euros?

What I want to access is the Neuf or SFR wifi spots you keep seeing everywhere.

Just to confirm this is 3G using a dongle not wifi? The prices seem typical French 3G, really expensive. IF I read it right its 7 Euro for 1 hour. I can hook my phone up to my laptop and get 25MB (ok for email and some browsing) via UK vodafone for 24 hours for £4.99. so its cheaper to connect to home that this solution.

What we really need is access to French wifi, hence the request for Neuf or SFR WIFI passwords.

Thanks for the detailed reply though.

Cheers

Well, I'm reading it right now, and I cannot see the €16 for 2 weeks, I see €16 for 3 hours + the other offers! €3 for 20mins. etc. and reading carefully I see "very loosely quoted" - to assure an optimal service on your network, beyond a usage of 75mb/day, SFR could limit the flow (usage?) up to midnight.
Not too sure what that means, as I have never done "dongle" up to yet, but how much is 75mb/day

The dongle first searches WiFi, and only selects 3G+ mode when requested.

The advantage as I see it is that my €16 is for the 15 day period, so I can dip into the internet twice/three times a day for 10-20 mins
for the next two weeks.

The £4.99 the UK Vodaphone option burns out at midnight, and for a fortnight would soon add up to nearly £70 !!!

I suppose it depends upon usage, I spend about 12-16 weeks in any year in France, usually split into 2-4 week blocks.

So for me this works well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the deal, I am quite interested in it. Am I correct in thinking that you use the 16€ for 3Hour package over a space of 16 days. If so, is there a limit as to how long the offer lasts for. I would only be using it for perhaps one hour per week. as for paying for it, do you do it when you go "online" or are there SFR shops, perhaps I could reload it at the bigger Super Us
